There are likely to be a rainbow of options available to O2ptima owners... firmware bug fixes only update, firmware features upgrades, handset case upgrades, electronics upgrades.... They tell me final pricing and availability has not yet been determined because all costs have not yet been identified and testing has not been completed. When these are complete, I suspect O2ptima owners will have a range of choices for updates and upgrades that have a range of pricing that begins at a very low number, (i.e. cost of shipping) for the firmware update only. However, as pointed out, since Dive Rite has not actually completed the work or released an official statement regarding these updates and upgrades, this is speculation on my part. -- Mark Last edited by n2diving : 30th May 2007 at 11:24. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: New unit delivery and new handsets I just finished teaching a class on the new handsets with the new software and love both of them. I dove the betea version and they were good but the production ones are better. The battery monitor is great I put a new set of batteries in when I got them and will run them till failure but expect to get around a month of diving on them. |

![]() | Re: New unit delivery and new handsets With the new handsets, there is a container of contact grease included. I take it that even with the new S/S caps, the contact grease is still required. Also wondering if anyone has had to use the contact spray cleaner as well? |

I take it that even with the new S/S caps, the contact grease is still required. Contact Grease should NOT be necessary at all. I think Dive Rite is being pro-active (the "Belt and Suspenders" idea) by including a can of Conduct-O-Lube with the Optima sets. Also wondering if anyone has had to use the contact spray cleaner as well? You can use this stuff for other things now - but the new battery cap design was one area we concentrated on so that it required Zero maintenance, beyond the occasional o-ring lube or replacement. As you know I never used the grease just kept the threads clean and never had a problem. The only thing to remember with the new battery cap is make sure you have tightened it completely if you don't pay attention you might not. |
