Agreed - great pics, Rich. And from the looks of the beefed up bracket/foot, my money might have to be on your Special FX winning that 'dropped 20 feet onto concrete' bet!! I know of a certain two people who will be interested in licensing your technology ...
Here are the final shots, which show the clearances with the 27 cf tanks and regs mounted. I added a small Delrin spacer to give a little more clearance. The extra space also makes getting the regs on and off a little easier.

Now all I have to do is get in the water with it!

Mark,

Water was a toasty 43 - 45 degrees Fri. & Sat. Vis was OK, not great. Got a few bugs & some Sea Bass.

Here are some shots of the heavier base & SS bracket with some comparison shots of the original.

Any idea how much for a foot plate and bar? May have a market here. Let me know, I may be able to get 3-4 of them from you...

The shop that did my work is a full service machine shop and unfortunately they charge their full rates based on the hours put in & materials used. I thought it was expensive, but I guess they need to make a living too. My total was $250.00 for the bracket, base, and fabrication.

What I would suggest is for you to find a local machine shop and work with them. The bracket is 316 SS 1 1/2" flat stock about 3/32" thick. It's a stock piece and they can get it cut to length. Just give them the old bracket & bring them the rest of the frame and ask them to make the adjustments you want to the new piece. It's got to be heated to be bent as it's pretty thick and the angles are sharp. It should also be a little longer on the top end to allow for two bolts to secure it to the upright.

It's very sturdy with the spacer block..... adding length to the bracket itself may cause some other issues. The base of the triangle may have to be wider or longer to accommodate the changes.

If you can't find anyone to do it, I can put you in touch with the guys I used. If he's making a few at a time it may be be a little cheaper, but when I kidded him about the cost of mine, he told me it should have been a lot more, if he charged me for all the time they put into it..... Typical!

Please feel free to ask for any information you may need.....

Good pictures, Rich not a bad ideal to beef-up the foot like that.
A 12" x 12" 3/8" thick piece of Delrin can be had from McMaster-Carr

The part # is 8575K116 and the cost is $31.79 plus Shipping.

The cutting, shaping & drilling is up to you....
