Urgh green liquid in canister??

Hellooooooo!

Box course is almost completed.. woo hoo! Got to go back down in 3 weeks to finish off my dives but all's well!

Just I have a question, it may be a stupid one with an obvious answer but I'm not sure...

So the scenario is this..

I have brought the unit home with me, but have left the head/ electronics with my instructor. I also brought home the scrubber and canister...

Stripped the unit down on Saturday after last dive, took scrubber out canister and found a greeny liquid in the bottom... normal I've been told to have it in there after a good couple of hours diving for the day. So I emptied it off, stored the scrubber separate to the canister to let it dry out, with the view that I would be diving the following day.

Didn't dive Sunday so packed everything to bring it home. The scrubber and canister were stored safely upright in the car for the journey back home. 5 hours later at home, split everything to give it a good clean down etc, and low and behold the canister is again swimming in this greeny liquid and the bottom of the scrubber is nice and wet!

The canister was dry when I packed it and have had time to drain out of the hose. Plus there was a considerable amount in there, not just a drop.

So the question is, where has it come from?

Or am I just being over paranoid about it...

Cheers

Lou

Because the hoses are convoluted and ribbed there is loads of space for gunky liquid to remain in them.

If you want to completely remove moisture from the hoses, remove them, stretch them to pull the ribbing flat, spin, and repeat.

Don't worry too much about it though, because you were doing your skills you will have had much more gunk in your hoses than you will in the future.

Cheers,

Dave Cooper.

Thank you Dave.

That's pretty much what I thought it would be... it just seemed to be rather a lot still coming out of the hoses.

Maybe I just produce more 'gunky stuff' than others... will see what happens after I've just been diving, rather skills, skills and more skills

I don't find it in the scrubber, but defo get green liquid fron the Ex lung. I agree with Dave tho, defo doing skills will allow more water in than a normal dive.

I was expecting it in the exhale lung but after diving there was a good 1cm of liquid in the bottom of the canister.

The thing that still puzzles me is that the canister and hoses were left to drain/ dry etc for over 36 hours, stood upright and nothing came out of them. I would of expected if there was it might of drained off then.

It was more that it was when I put the scrubber back into the canister to bring it home that all the liquid reappeared. And the bottom of the scrubber was very wet. Again there was a good 1-1.5cm of liquid in the bottom?

Oh well its probably just me... bust it all ready

Pierre,

I do not know how "normal" any of us could be called, considering what we like to do for a sport, but at least you are certainly better off without the alien slime growing in your machine!

it's probably to do with the heat and humidity, it may not have dried out fully in the bathroom either, that or the cats got in.

course it could be these fancy new electronics

or it really is

hanging the canister upside down helps drain it too, the hose isn't draining into the canister.

Still ca't explain where it came from though - but then I'm ow officially a CCR novice ala Mr Pile

True it could be... see what happens now I've got it home. It's hanging upside down drying off now.

No matter what you say you are never going to convince me to switch back to Classics... no matter how much you beg... although dinner may be a start at softening me
