Lou, I have absolutely no idea what you or your Evo are oozing, but congrats on finally getting training and in the water ... on second thought, might that green stuff be the 'Loubie'?

Thank you

Unfortunately the Evo has been shelved for an Inspiration with nice new shiney Vision Leccies...

I've got half way through my course and have just got a couple of dives to do to complete in a about 3 weeks time when I go back down to Cornwall.

It wasn't all plain sailing admittedly. Few problems although nothing serious along the way knocked my confidence a bit. But I have a fantastic group of friends, boyfriend and instructor who have been soooo patient with me and have helped me so much over the last weekend to help me get things sorted and back on track.. just a shame I missed out on doing my dives this weekend.

Nevermind, patience is a virtue and I've got a couple more weeks to get sorted etc then get my course finished, provided the weather holds out.

But for my "gunk" I don't know what it is.... I must just make more of the icky green stuff than everyone else...

Hmmm is there any use for it? Could it be bottled and sold? I could make a fortune

If you slobber into your unit just tilt your head during the dive and slobber it up again. I haven't cleaned my hoses for the last 8 weeks I think - nor have I taken it apart. I don't open until I hear gurgling noises and sofar it hasn't killed me and it prevents others ever wanting to put there lips on my unit....

Hello LL, I've seen the green stuff before, comming out of 2 different Classic Kiss divers hoses. And it's kind of bright green, right? I think that it's something being secreted out of the rubber from the hoses or some other rubber part of the Rebreather. I believe all rubber has a certain amount of oil or something in it when it's cured, to keep it moist enough to prevent it from cracking and drying out. Maybe this stuff reacts with spit and or salt water and makes the green stuff. That's my best guess.

Having cured my KISS's leak with plumbers' tape, I only get a little condensation and slobber in the hoses and lungs. If I strip the unit the same day as I dive it's clear, or maybe a little milky looking, but, if I leave it a day or two, especially in warm weather, the green colour comes in. Leave it more than that and it gets a really nice fluro tinge to it...

Hey Andy,

Where was the leak that required plumbers tape?
