Drager Dolphin - Minimum Safe Depth

I am looking for information on the minimum safe operating depth for the Drager Dolphin.
I'm looking at a trip that would involve a few days of 15-20 ft/60 minute dives, in addition to several days of reef diving. I'd like to dive the Drager, but have heard of the risk of shallow water blackout. I've looked through my old course materials and don't really see this issue addressed beyond avoiding long surface swims.
I would appreciate any insight RWF members can provide.
Thanks!

Re: Drager Dolphin - Minimum Safe Depth

You won't have a problem if you dive the unit as Drager recommends, using the correct orifice size for your depth. Do your flow tests before the dive to make sure flow is correct for the selected orifice and you are set.

You are right, the most dangerous time on the loop is on the surface. The Dolphin is set up so that it will supply way over what you need (unless you are a super fit athelete working really hard for an exteded time).

Have fun,
Steve

That's the kind of diving the Drager Dolphin was made for. If your really going no deeper than 20 feet, use 60% nitrox on the 60% orifice and you should be able to make two 45 minute dives on one 28ft tank with a little bit of gas left over. Just make sure you have a working oxyguage. I NEVER HAVE and I NEVER WILL dive my dolphin witout an oxyguage or some other kind of PO2 monitor.

Re: Drager Dolphin - Minimum Safe Depth

If your doing a shallow dive you'll be fine cause the Dollt is supa dupa safe at those depths...if you can see if you coud get hooked up with a 100% orifice if you you know your gonna be 30 ft or shallower, otherwise 60 on the 60 is gonna be cool cool for ya...you'll be super awake to when your done...so you can pound a few beers and tell how you wrestled shamoo off pamala anderson

Re: Drager Dolphin - Minimum Safe Depth

if its 20ft max then id go 100% o2 with w/e orifice, youll just waste more gas with the lower orifices, and your good to go
