![]() | Can it be made simpler? I am new to CCR diving, certified in June and probably around 25 hours underwater with my new unit. Doing a lot of underwater photography, I think it is a great improvement over OC, both in term of the bubbles (or lack thereof) and extended bottom time. The catch however is all the logistic around it , which in a way spoils the fun. I was in Cozumel recently and I took my unit there, and although I was able to dive with it, it was not without some running around to get O2 and / or Sofnolime. There is a great deal of similarity between CCR and cars running on alternative energies. The technologies have been around for a while, but there is a catch 22 situation when it comes to finding the right 'gas station' (read Sofnolime and O2). If it was easier to get them, there would be more people using rebreather etc. etc. So my question is : are there people in this forum (or elsewhere) who tried to work on the problem of the supply, trying to create 'rebreather friendly' places rather than waiting for them to appear? . If yes, I would be happy to join the effort or at least understand what's being done , if no, wouldn't it be something useful to do (or am I in the wrong place to ask?) Michel |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Can it be made simpler? Hi Michel, I think most of us on this forum have felt the same frustration that you have experienced. I took my Rebreather to Cozumel a couple of years ago, lost two days of diving trying to get fills, and vowed not to return to Cozumel again until there was a dedicated tech dive shop that actually had regular hours and consistent service. I have decided since that trip, that I only take my RB to locations that have operations that are owned or operated by other RB divers. It certainly cuts down on the options, but the frustration of trying to "educate and motivate" non-friendly technophobes, really takes a lot of the fun out of it. There are still plenty of RB friendly places. Take your business to them! When the other resorts and shops see their competition starting to make money servicing our comunity, they will come around eventually. At least to me, it seems to make it a lot easier to deal with! When I go somewhere to dive my RB, I just want to dive without all of the hassles. I am now much more choosey about where I will go.

| Cap Ron scourge of the NW ![]() ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Can it be made simpler? and absolutly check out the Rebreather friendly dive resorts posted here on Rebreather World, at the top of your screen, click on "RB Friendly" to see the places we all go when on holiday. I just pretty much quit going anywhere else that doesnt support CCR's. You know, just across the water in Playa del carmen is Pro-Tec mexico and they have plenty of support available. Welcome to Rebreather World, enjoy your time here!

| Moderator ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Can it be made simpler? You can also click on the link to the "Rebreather World World Map" right next to the "Rebreather Friendly" link, just select destinations, and it will show you all our RB Friendly destinations on the map. On a side note, there are apparently a few that aren't in the right spot, and have the owners mixed up, if anyone has details of destinations that don't have the right "owners" assigned to them, or are in the wrong spot, PM me with details, and I'll fix them for ya. Cheers guys CD
