Question Photo question

It's probably a somewhat dumb question, but I'll never know if I don't ask: I'm doing quite a bit of underwater photography and the next step was to make less bubbles and be able to stay a little longer. So, I just finished my certification on the Evolution and I have a configuration problem. There are situation with a CCR more than in OC where we need two hands or a specific hand to do something (like shutting down the O2 valve or closing the mouthpiece). Any advice on how to attach my camera rig in such a way that it can still be moved around comfortably, but also where I can drop it and take care of whatever emergency without worrying about that $5000 of equipment.
Thanks,
Michel

A 2' to 3' lanyard with a boltsnap has worked well for me on any configuration.

Re: Photo question

Hi Mike
I used shoot a Nikon CP5000 in an Ike with a couple of DS125's is a pretty big rig underwater but about to upgrade to a Nikon D200 when the funds allow. I have a large SS clip on a short rope to the housing, when not using I attach it to a dedicated Dring towards the front of my waistband. To tell you the truth if shit really hits the fan I would just let it go... It is insured after all.

Cheers
Chriso

Re: Photo question

Well, I agree that if I have to choose between the camera and not taking pictures ever, I won't think too hard. I like the short rope idea. I've been using a 'coil' lanyard in the past, but it's a little too long once extended.

Best,
Michel

Re: Photo question

I have a 18" lanyard so the camera clips semi-permanently to me, so I can just drop it and it will fall far enough not to be in my way but I dont lose it. I can tuck the handle under a harness strap if I want to keep it next to me.

First thing I would do is streamline that harness that comes with the Evolution. Then add a nice side d-ring to the left chest harness. Put a 26" lanyard and a stainless snapbolt on your camera. Once in the water, clip your camera to the d-ring and never take it off until your back to the boat.

Curt, what do you mean by 'streamline the harness' ?
