Newbie with Dolphin/VR3 computer question...

What is the benefit of adding the oxygen monitor kit upgrade to the VR3 to a Dolphin SCR for recreational diving?

If I get that upgrade, what will it allow me to do, monitor, warnings, etc?

For example, if my scrubber starts channeling, or my Nitrox airflow is reduced in the demand valve, will it warn me of a problem with too much/too little O2 or CO2 in my inhalation bag?

Thanks,
Red

Hi Red.

The VR3 will "only" monitor your oxygen level, CNS, OTU and decompression obligation.
CO2 monitoring for rebreathers does not exists yet.
I think it is important for you to monitor your oxygen level in SCR mode, as this will give you a warning if f.ex. the nitrox flow is reduced.

Re: Newbie with Dolphin/VR3 computer question...

Thanks for the reply Morten. I've been OC certified since 1989, but took a break from diving for about 16 yrs (got married/had kids), now just getting back into it via SCR. All this stuff is very new to me, but very exciting. I want to get a VR3 since in the future I plan to go CCR, and I won't have to buy a different computer, and wasn't quite sure how the VR3 would benefit me with the O2 monitoring in a SCR.

Thanks,
Red
