eCCR controls

Hello,

I newbie stupid question as I reserach rebreathers:

While eCCRs certainly do a good job at preventing to low a PO2 they don't limit the high PO2 -- the most they do is alert you that the PO2 is too high (i.e. on ascent). With all the advances in electronics it seems a trivial amount of work to control the diluent with auto addition to prevent the PO2 for exceeding the 1.4 (1.6) limits.

Certainly following proper protocols will prevent this, but one aspect of having an eCCR is to have something managing the rebreather for you. Why limit that management to the low end when the high end is just as leathal.

Re: eCCR controls

Personally I would not like to have a function that automatically injected diluent into the loop in case of to high po2. This is something I would like to control myself.

I don't fancy an automatic diluent addition system for high PO2, as it would screw your buoyancy control if it kicked in unless it also dumped automatically. If it dumped automatically you have a chance of it malfunctioning and dumping your loop volume.

Mind you I'm a Kiss diver so not into automatic control anyway

During ascent the PO2 is not too high! It will go down.
If PO2 is too high the eccr simply don't give you more O2, I will never an automatic dil addition in that case.

When does it go high? If you do a slow descent it might spike a bit but you just don't switch up to early and it is a free boost towards the deep setpoint.
This is a non-problem so naturally we don't need a complicted fix.
On the ascent the ppO2 keeps dropping.
