Hmmm, I haven't tried packing a Meg scrubber but the statement seems fairly improbable to me.

Exactly the same here, usually if I fill to the rim, I pat all around until I can top it up. Usually I can top it up three times -ish before it stops going down any more. Then box it up.

I have packed a few and the statement was made by someone who had packed loads, (all types) taken in context and not using a vibration that would reduce the lime to dust i think it was valid. If you were to try and over fill, the lid would not go on as it is a mesh with a spring catch and bar. As the cannister is made from a relatively thick walled perspex type material it will not flex and loose shape by over packing.

Hope this clarifies the comment

Re: How tight are you packing?

Really tight. I fill in successive thirds. After adding each third of scrubber material, I rotate the scrubber while tapping a bottom edge of it on the ground and follow this with rotating it while hitting it on the side with a screw driver handle. I find I get the tightest pack with my [Classic] KISS scrubber by putting (reasonable) downward pressure on the top mesh screen while simultaneously tapping the side of the scrubber with a screwdriver handle.

Re: How tight are you packing?

For SK divers, do not pack your scrubber as tight as these guys do.

For the reason, read the KISS archive around Jan-2005.

Seriously, I pack it as tight as I can.

Cheers,

What he said on both counts

Third tap tap tap another third tap tap tap etc nutill several healthey slaps will not result in any slack on the center nut.

Showed Ammers she said I was packing too tight but like Juz i never noticed a WOB problem so ill stick with it.

Re: How tight are you packing?

Hi

I recently did the PADI Drager Dolphin course and was told that I shouldnt pack it really tight because it could get to a point where it could restrict my breathing! But then SCRs are simpler than CCRs.

I just know when it comes to setting up on my own for the first time Im going to be so paranoid that the scrubber could be too loose or too tight!

cheers

Sharon

Re: How tight are you packing?

Thanks for the info everyone, it has helped in that I guess I'm not over packing. Now this brings up another question .

For the Inspiration users

Has anyone ever packed there can so tight that it deformed? It doesn't seem to be possible to deform the can if you only use the tap-tap-tap on the sides method (as you would not be forcing the material into the can, but only getting rid of any space, letting it settle).
It seems to me that if I were to try (witch I would never do) to push more material into the can from top then this is the only way to deform the can?

Push push push Williams.... push push push

Re: How tight are you packing?

I like my scrubers with fishnets and boots LOL

I fill can half way, then tap-tap-tap all around the can till the lime does not settle (drop down) anymore. Then fill to the top and repeat the above steps when lime settles i top off again to the top of the can then place scrim and spider with locking nut, finger tighten nut hold the can on my chest, 2-3 big slaps around the can then retighten nut. repeat slaps again then retighen nut and good to go. So i pack pretty tight cant say i have noticed any probs with WOB (inspo). And when emptying i cant say that i have ever noticed any crushed lime.
