Dive lights in South Africa

Has anyone used the scubapro LED module lighting system?

I have looked the information on the other dive lights and each one has its merits. It is quite costly to import the salvo, haylcon, etc

I am using a homemade built one. Pictures attached. Currently used as my primary. I want to use this as my back up.

Anyone have any ideas on good torches that have

1. Umbilical cord
2. longer then 2hrs burntime
3. 18 watts
4. Fast charge
5. led/halogen.
6. Handle
7, will not cost an arm or a leg :D

Regards

Give Gerhard a call at Liquid Edge Diving (Liquid Edge Technical Diving (TDI/ IANTD/ Cave/ Trimix) Website. Suppliers of technical dive training in South Africa. Suppliers of Technical Dive Equipment. Providers of all levels of technical dive training). He imports Sarteks at a very competitive rate and they are great torches ( i have a 10W HID affectionately call "the finger of god" by my dive buddies).

Hi

Yes give Gerhard a ring. He has used the scubapro light and did not rate it, beam to wide. I have a Sartek 21/13 watt variable and focasable HID (imported this directly) - It is cheaper than the scubapro HID. I did some extensive research on lights in RSA. Sartek by far the best value for money and they are good lights. PM me and can maybe sneak a cave dive/night dive if you want to have a look. The 10watt HID sartek is very good value for money and (for most) RSA conditions more than good enough - unless you dive Bushmans when I would recomend a 21 or even a 35watt light. You do get a Sartek in LED.

What and wher do you normally dive? If I were to buy a LED light I would consider the Salvo's (12 watt) robust and to use in ocean and good enough for wreck diving. In the caves I would not change my Sartek for anything.

Cheers Dries

Re: Dive lights in South Africa

Thanks Nick and Dries

I will give Gerhard a call. Just completed by cave course with Don. I am looking at getting one of the serious 18 watt + without the huge price tag. I saw the effect it has compared to the 10w halycon.i have not heard anyone say that they have a too bright torch.;)

Dries, i normally dive Miracle/Wondergat/Basslake and when i have the time Komati springs. Thanks for the offer i will PM you when i am going, hopefully we can dive together.

Regards
Vinayak
