Kiss Classic units new are something like $5500.00 and I have been seeing them sell for about three quarters of there cost new. That’s if you see it for sale longer than 24hours. I sold mine within a couple of hours after listing. It was sold for US$5,000 (with an extra SS CL housing) so it kept the value quite well. However, Andrew is right, the buyer was a Brit so it was very cheap for him considering the exchange rate and no import duties since it was an old unit. The other 2 Classic-KISS units that I know were for sale were sold within a few days. IMHO, there will be more Classic-KISS for sale soon as the Sport-KISS production start to ram up. Conversely, I know someone is selling his MK-15 units since he just bought a Sport-KISS (yes, another "Mother of all downgrade!") so if anyone is looking for MK-15, I will refer for you. |

![]() | Wow, you guys went into alot more detail than I expected. Thanks. It will be quite a while before I accually get one, although I might get a chance to try out the dolphin in the pool this weekend. I did buy mastering rebreathers last week but I haven't really started reading it yet. Thanks for the advice I'll probably be asking more questions shortly. -Rob |

| Who loves ya, baby ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Rob, Rebreather World Supporter Ron Micjan is in Beaver Creek, OR. His tmi website has plenty of information and contact info. Ron dives the Dolphin (converted to CCR), KISS and Megalodon and should be you best (fairly) local source for info. Training too, I believe, at least for the KISS. Considering the proximity in price, gas addition and size I would prefer the more capable SportKiss rather than a Dolphin. Furthermore, neither Dräger nor their distributor Aqualung has an even half way decent reputation for cuatomer service, whereas Jetsam ranks about as high as you can get. Cheers

![]() | A few weeks ago I went to the pool and did an intro dive on the dolphin. I had a blast playing with it but I've decided that maybe I need to try a few others to see how they compare to it before I commit. The rebreather that really has caught my eye lately is the Prism Topaz as it seems to be a very well designed unit. So.... of those of you who have dove the topaz what do you think of it? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hello Rob, after doing a real bunch of research, I went with the Prism and I love it. I've got 270 hrs on it with no dives missed. I started off on the Drager as there were no CCRs that were user friendly enough for me available for sale in 98. I personally don't see the point of SCR, now that there are so many CCR choices. You won't save much money and you'll get alot less capability. If you think Rebreather's are in your future, go straight to CCR. While you check out the various manufacturers, try to get a handle not just on the different features, but on the different design philosophies they have. This way you can compare not only the physical differences but the level of thought and expertise put into each unit. That's the way to make a good decision-after you've got a clear understanding of why each designer made the choices they did. And make sure you have a good idea of how you'll use it now and as you grow as a diver. One of the first big choices you will have to make is counter lung placement, over-the-shoulder vs. back mounted lungs. After spending 150 plus hrs on the Dolphin/Atlantis and several hrs on the Kiss Cassic-both back mounted CL units-I found the work of breathing to be significantly higher than the Prism's over-the-shoulder design. The Prism breathes effortlessly in any position. There are many, many other factors that will go into your decision, but comfort and ease of use will be the first and most obvious factors to influence you. The Prism is particularly easy to use and set up as well as being the lightest and smallest of the OTS lung units, as well as having the longest scrubber duration. Try to get some pool time on any unit you are considering and above all take your time making a decision. |
