See HERE for my BOV article, and HERE for the discussion thread with some photos of the routing off the inboard/offboard gassesThe hot set-up is the BOV with a supply line to a quick disconnect. Then you put a short stub line with a mating disconnect on your sling bottle. No farting around with getting rid of the mouthpiece and finding a new one. You just flip the switch and you are bailed out. Get a few breaths, and figure out WIHIH. <snip> |

I can also add offboard dil to the loop without the manifold connection. If I need to donate gas I can hand off the stage as normal Thanks Dave, Dave Could you please explain the ways and means. Which breather is it? Analysis of benefits v's risks leads to many options, all very interesting stuff IMO. thanks.

When kitting up I just plug them together so everything that runs off the manifold can be fed by either the onboard dil or offboard dil. if I have a problem with either I just unplug the coupling and they are isolated! The side slung half of the hose will also plug into the counterlung(s) so I can use the gas to run semi-closed or whatever! Dave |

Yeah, I do know which 'Dave T' you are and have followed your various works with interest. (Ah, the stick in PM's I've just got for that...) Or does the Male QC have valving in to prevent onboard gas passing to the offboard?Ok A hose is connected to the manifold and runs down underneath the inhale counterlung with a male quick connect on the end (couplings were sourced for me by Bob Howel so not sure of the make) the other half (female end) is connected to the first stage of my side slung cylinder. Dave I like your solution, and had though about doing it like that, but was pointed away from that due to it making the manifold a single point of failure for both gas sources. But in retrospect, if the manofold blows an o-ring or something - you just disconnect the QC from the sidemount and use the OC reg you have on the sidemount...? Simon |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: OC bail out question The quick disconnects are self sealing but I dont use any one way valves. as I use the same gas in the inboard dil as in the offboard it doesnt matter if it equalises but its easy to stop that happening by have different IP's in the first stages The fact that I can isolate the two tanks does not make it a single point failure Dave Edit.. some quick disconnects that are on the market are "one way" (AP I think) but mine arnt!
