Vision Electronics vs VR3

Hi,

I have just bought a inspiration with vision electronics with full deco option for trimix. About to do my course....

How does the vision electronics rate against the VR3 for decompression etc? Any good?

I use both.

The way I have them set the Vision tends to be more radical (both are set to low conservatism) so I end up on the more conservative VR3. In theory I dive the most conservative at any point and then add some extra time from my head but my taste for slow ascents tends to wash out the VR3's deep stops before I get there and it doesn't get told I'm boosting the ppO2 shallow.

IMHO, it is hard to answer your question since it doesn't give a good sense of your deco theory understanding.

Try to do a research for past Rebreather World threads under these terms: "gradient factor", "Buhlmann", "deco", etc.

In short...

- Vision use Gradient Factor (GF) algorithm which is a modification from straight Buhlmann algorithm.

- VR-3 uses straight Buhlmann algorithm with "deep bubble" stops added in. "Deep bubble" stops are fairly similar to Pyle-stop.

- Both will give slightly different deco profile with GF starts (usually) deeper and have short stops each 3m. VR3 profile will have intermittent deep stops and longer shallow stops.

- Many people have the opinion that VR3 is more conservative than necessary for the "standard" trimix diving range/time.

- If you are planning to use a back-up dive computer for your Vision, I recommend the Shearwater Pursuit since it uses the same GF algorithm.

Again, until you ask specific questions, it is difficult to know what exactly you already knew and looking for... HTH

Yep I agree.

How do you get down off of an elephant? You don't, you get down off of a duck.

Sell your VR3 before they are finished being completely eclipsed by newer/better computers.

Re: Vision Electronics vs VR3

Or deco using the Vision & bend the VR3 (i.e. ascend thu it's deep stops), the VR3 then comes roughly into line with the Vision. If loose the Vision deco, for some reason, you can fall back on the VR3, even if it's in "Use Tables" mode.

I end all dives the "Deco Missed" on my VR3!

It's what i do....

Thank guys,

Like you said, I'll get back to you with more specific Q's as soon as I actually start diving the machine.
