![]() | Just saying hello for first time.. I'm so new, I have not even see a rebreather other than pictures. lol.. Gto back into diving again and see that there are more than home built and military units out there!! Started working toward training now.. THe who's and what's to lurn to get to a good / Supported rebreather. My local dive store (Blue Water Aquatics) has been great a pointing me in the right direction. To pick a CCR that I can get training for + other support for in my area. So far the best for me is the KISS sport / ANDI training. If you all have other info... That is very welcome!!!! Thanks, Phil |

The choice for ANDI is one you need to make conciously. If you allready have (normoxic) Tx certification it will not be of use and you'll have to a mod 2 equivalent (L4?) again. If you happen to have IANTD Tx certification then it valid after such and so many hours/dives. It's just a though. For other agencies I simply don't know. On the plus side the ANDI program seemed solid to me and the manual was excelently written.

| Who loves ya, baby ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Welcome to Rebreather World, Phil. I've got a Sport Kiss and did my training through ANDI. The Sport Kiss is a very nice little rig, and great for its intended purpose, diving a CCR around recreational limits. I haven't ventured past those, anyway. Small size makes it easy to handle above and below the surface, quite simple and convenient to operate and maintain. Standard BOV, choice of BCD, nice albeit expensive display option. Great customer service from Jetsam. As far as the training goes, the instructor is generally more important than the agency. You want someone that has the knowledge, skills and experience, as well as the ability to teach you all of it. Having said that, ANDI does an very good job supporting their instructors as well as keeping an eye on them. They also take feedback from students about the training very seriously. And, as mentioned, the newer ANDI manuals are among the best available. That includes the Kiss manual. So much so that I always recommend getting it even when training through another agency. It's worth the money. Anyway, for me the Sport Kiss/ANDI combo works out very well. |

If you are saying that a OC trimix diver is automatically qualified CCR trimix after a certain number of dives I think that is incorrect. As I understand the standards a OC trimix diver takes a MOD 1 they are immediately elegible to take training for MOD 2 but must do 20 dives and 25 hours on the CCR being used before they are certified for MOD 2.The choice for ANDI is one you need to make conciously. If you allready have (normoxic) Tx certification it will not be of use and you'll have to a mod 2 equivalent (L4?) again. On the plus side the ANDI program seemed solid to me and the manual was excelently written. Since the SK is not rated for depths below normoxic range that would be the end of the line for SK training. Stll a good inexpensive choice for a recreational Rebreather.
