![]() | Inspiration or Evoloution!? Hi Everyone, Since seeing the launch of the Inspiration at a London Dive show a few years back I have been interested to learn to dive one. I am now at the point in my dive career that I feel confident with theory etc, have a few thou. OC dives and more importantly have some funds! The question is weather to buy and train on AP Inspiration or the new Evoloution? I know there are a few other good units in production. However I live and grew up pretty near the AP factory in Cornwall and have used their OC equipment for a while, the after sales service is second to none, the equipment bomb proof and I am a little patriotic towards the 'westcountry'. I will be back from overseas for a couple of months in the new year so just doing some background research. I would like to be 'futureproof' in regards to buying a unit that would suit more advanced CCR diving later on, but I also spend a lot of time travelling abroad so size is an issue. Can the Evoloution be modified later on to larger cylinders etc? Is this necessary? Will AP phase the Insp. out in favour of the Evoloution? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

![]() | Re: Inspiration or Evoloution!? Evolution is far superior for traveling and can do every dive an Inspiration can do except some of the most extreme dives you might encounter. I've done deep dives with 4+ hour run times with no problems regarding scrubber duration or the smaller cylinders. The only time I ever thought the 13's were just a little small was cave diving while using my on board for suit as well as dil, but you always have a bailout bottle to tap in to the system should you really run out. The smaller chassis is also much nicer to swim especially when jamming yourself into tight spots in wrecks. If you get a Storm roller case it fits within luggage guidelines and removing the head and valves it is under the travel weight limits. With the evo I almost never have to pay for over weight baggage whereas with the inspiration I would get hit once in a while. The only potential benefits to the Inspiration I can see; is that there are often 3l cylinders available at certain dive destinations but not often 2l's but I always bring mine with... and when kitting up the evo is shorter and is a little awkward when sitting on a bench but it's not too much heavier than single ali 80 rig so it is really isn't a big deal. ![]() | Re: Inspiration or Evoloution!? Hi Doug, Thanks for taking the time to reply. I'm new to Rebreather world so taking time to navigate the site. I understand now the answers to most questions can be found in the library and in other forum threads. Thanks anyway.
