Talking Medic from South Africa

HI to all anti-OC-divers!!

I am not new to diving or rebreathers but managed to eventually buy my own recently! I refused to dive rebreathers without having my own! I am working in central Africa at the moment and cannot wait to lay my eyes upon the Drager Dolphin!

I got introduced to diving when I attended a dive medicine course in the SA military and got hooked! I am part of a group of technical divers in central SA (Bloemfontein) called the Alternative Dive Group (aka ADG). In ADG, exploration into diving technology is at the order of our existence and rebreathers is right there in it! We do a lot of inland diving and also dive in the sea if we really get desperate, but as long as we can breathe underwater we are happy! (I hope to dive the local open cut mine I am working on if I can!)

I am also a diabetic (type 1) that are supported by my group in my diving and hope to connect with any of you in the same situation as I am! Apparently diabetes and technical diving do not mix well?

I expect to learn a lot from all of you out there and maybe dive with you one day!

Regards Vandré - "sasmedic"

Welcome to Rebreather World Vandre!

I trust that your experience here will be as rewarding as mine - it is a truly awesome resource and I don't believe any rebreather diver should be without it!

Viva ADG ;-)
