Researching and taking recommendations

Hello from the SC - USA!!! I have been diving since 1999 and I have been in the diving industry since 1997 after joining the local search and recovery team in the county. I served happily until 2006.

Since then I have been working on my professional side in hopes to work for a dive shop or even get to teach diving to interested people.

Something I learned a long time ago was that we all learn something new when we stop what we do and teach others....we learn from ourselves and we learn from the ones we are teaching.

Recently, I have been wanting more bottom time and other than PSD work and assisting a couple of instructors with AOW or OW certifications, I don't have any technical background.

That will change in the near future (prior to purchasing rebreather). I am here to research and learn more about the rebreather world and the benefits (pros and cons) of these great machines.

I am coming in to this knowing nothing. And what I have learned so far, I am sure can be added to, hince why I am here.

So without further adue....diver down and lets get wet together. I will be reading and taking notes...and with what is being said I will research and confirm such advise, so don't take it personal...but one of many of my rules in diving is: "TRUST ME" doesn't cut it for me and when I hear someone say that, that person usually finds themselves overboard and after my explaination they re-think there attitudes. We are all responsible for one another but no one is more responsible for US than we are to ourselves.

Re: Researching and taking recommendations

Chuck,

Welcome to Rebreather World.... It's a great place to learn what questions to ask... Yet not always the place for correct answers..

Find yourself a good instructor and they can help you sort the rest out.

Advance Diving Magazine sponsors a fair number of "rebreather experiance" events that you might find very useful. They are typically posted on the list.

Good Luck and Dive Safe...

Mark

Welcome. You will be able to learn a lot here.

I echo what Mark said, and I would also suggest checking the Library for other references. You will also want to get Bozanic's Mastering Rebreathers as a starter. I also like the IANTD Tek Closed Circuit book.

Welcome aboard. This is a friendly place to learn. And someone once said "the best way to learn a subject is to teach it." Even very good and well experienced inst's do learn from their students.
