Table Generating Software for CCR's

Forgive me if this has been discussed before but...........I want to buy table generating software to use with my Sport Kiss, I'm newly certified and don't want to buy a fixed PO2 computer. I don't plan on doing deco diving yet, just enjoying the unit inside of 150ft. What's the best software for my stated need, that has the potential for future growth?

Kiam,

My personal favourite is the GAP by Kees Hofwegen.

Yup GAP gets my vote - its table generating wizard is fantastic - I use it to export to Excel, tweak the formating slightly then print and laminate.

If you don't want to do deco on CCR, you could simply use a Nitrox computer to approximate for you.

For example, max depth is 20m/66ft at SP 1.2 means EANx 40 so if you are planning to do a squarish dive at max depth, just set the Nitrox mix to 40%.

I sure wish i could get GAP to work on my mac through Virtual PC the way that v-planner does. For 180 clams I shouldn't have to work so hard to cut a table...

For a little more money you could get a real computer but then you wouldn't be able to make such pretty pictures

Gasp! Heretic!

You should re-write that to say that for less money I could get a wintel box that would do far less of what i need it to do (read - what pays the bills and keeps me diving). The only downside i've ever had to my mac is the dearth of diving software available.

PDA Software

For those of us who rather not use Wintel boxes there are two PDA options:

Decoweenie+ for the Palm OS calculating OC/CC using Bühlman ZHL-16 B or C, Pyle, GVE, GF or DCAP.
Has a myriad of options.
Visit website, about half way down the page is a link to ADM's Fall 2003 article comparing deco softwares.

GAP-Lite for Pocket PC, also calculating fO2/pO2 but using RGBM or Bühlmann ZHL-16 B and C.
