Re: In Memory of Steve Irwin

This sucks, who didn't like Steve Irwin? A Stingray barb through the chest? A very common animal, from now on I will be staying way clear of those F***ers, if that's all it took. What a shock... -Andy

He will be sadly missed by many many people the world over. Unfortunately Steve wasn't that popular in Australia. Many of us didn't like his style and were embarrassed by his Okker Aussie Blokiness. Poo to them I say. Personally I think Australia would be a better place if there were more people with his approach to life. He was a national treasure that gave a lot more than he got. Vale

Steve, I had a feeling he might have been a sore point for some Austalians. But I would say, as you did, that he was sincere enough about what he did as to transcend the usual corny "Bloke" factor, I could see that even from the other side of the world.

Where I come from there's a difference between being "corny"=contrived, and being an enthusiastic "sap"=sincere.

Such a pity!
It was really great shows.

An Italian guy was also killed by a stingray this summer, in Italy.

Great loss...

Crikey. I am gonna miss that dude. He was very entertaining.

It is surprising that a stingray managed to kill him, however I can only surmise that if he was barbed in the chest, then it would paralyse the heart.
