My condolences to family and friends. I only hope to be remembered as fondly. As a diver I ask why from a practical standpoint for there but for the grace of God go I.

He was a great guy to discuss with ! I often came across him on thedecostop
Here is one of his qoutes after we discussed the death of Luca Torelli (the Inspiration diver who created the "Doing it Yellow" slogan):

Rob aka as Big Jet Driver once wrote:
"Diving is an active sport, replete with its own risks and rewards. It is certainly safer than driving down the roads of either your country or mine.

As Tom Mount has often said: "Once intelligently informed of the risks, any individual has the right to risk himself (or herself) in any way he or she chooses."

I earn my living flying extremely complex aircraft over vast distances on this globe. I teach ECCR diving the same way I approach flying. Do it by the checklist. Watch your gauges. Make safe procedure an automatic part of your diving practice. It only makes good common sense!

I never met "Il Bombarolo", although I corresponded with him from time to time. I am sure he was a fine man and a good companion. Our sport will be the poorer without him!

Dear Rob, I have to thank you to be on this forum. We all will miss you.
My condolences to family, friends and the scuba comunity for the loss of one of those that really did believe in this sport.

I never had the good fortune to meet Rob but from all that I have heard about him I'm sure my life will be poorer for not now having the chance.

I am sitting here, trying to figure out what to write and nothing i think of is enough.
Rob, i hope you have found a home in dive mecca. Never got to meet you in real life, i enjoyed everything you had to say and i learnt alot from you. See you someday where ever you are. And i will miss your discussions.

I'm shocked and saddened by this. Incidents like this really make me consider my own mortality.

I am devastated to hear of Robs passing, I spoke to him in London 5 weeks ago and thought, what a gentleman.

My sincere condolences to his family, may he Rest in Peace.

This is such terrible news. I never knew Rob personally, but always followed his posts with a smile.

Rob's approach to this site (and to the members of the community it has created) will undoubtedly be remembered for a long, long time. This awful news is all the more reason for the rest of us to keep the fantastic spirit of this site going.
