I've only just discovered about the tragic events for Penny today while hunting around the Internet for some other information about my time at the University of Bradford and finding out about this awful news by chance. I'm afraid that I'm not part of the diving fraternity - nor probably ever will be - but I hope you don't mind me just contributing a few words on this forum.

I studied with Penny at Bradford on the B.Eng/M.Eng course in Electrical and Electronic Engineering between September 1983 and June 1987, and had the pleasure of working closely with her on several projects. She was a quite incredible lady: always full of energy and enthusiasm, so determined to live life to the full and pack as much in as possible, be it with diving or the numerous social events that formed student life. And in particular I remember her kindness and encouragement towards me when things did get tough on the course.

I heard some years back that she had become so prominent in diving which I remember her taking up at Bradford. And it's wonderful to see how very loved, respected and admired she remained.

Although the last time I saw her was now - sadly - almost twenty years ago, she's one of those people that you just never forget. And I can't believe that that amazing lady I studied with isn't blazing with her usual energy somewhere out there any more.

Thanks Penny. You were always a pleasure to work with and fun to know.
