| Cap Ron scourge of the NW ![]() ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Penny Glover A very sad day indeed. Today is Thanksgiving holiday in the USA and I find myself visiting friends in BC Canada and celebrating all that we are thankful for. Dave Tomblin (wedivebc) his wife Karen and son James, myself and my dive buddy Patti (pattimdiver) are present and of us I am the only one who knew Penny. I met and dived with Penny at ZG-04 in Cayman, I remember her enthusiasm and expertise and we had a great time laughing over her showing Kim Smith how to dive an inspiration while Penny tried on a KISS unit. Have to go look for that picture and post it. As in the aviation community, if we spend enough time doing adventure sports we will eventually lose some of our best and brightest friends to the whimsies of fate. Just when you think you have it all down, something like this happens and reminds us how fragile, and precious, human life truly is. To all the world wide friends, family, and extended family of Penny Glover, our thoughts and prayers go out to you in this time of loss. Take care, hold friends and family close this holiday season and all year round, dive safe. Ron Micjan Parksville, BC 24 NOV 05

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Penny Glover I just don't know what to say. I still can't believe that she is gone. I kept hoping and hoping that they surfaced and were picked up... I first communicated with Penny early last year and finally got to meet her at zero gravity 04. As we got to know one and other at that event, we talked about so many different things. There was a lot going on and many new things that I had to deal with and she was inspirational, provided strength and insight. From the start, I felt like I had known her forever. She is one of the most inspirational people that I have met in this sport. Her dedication to the industry, her drive, her intelligence and her fabulous sense of humor will be missed. I will never forget her. My heart also goes out to Jacques wife and his children, in this incredibly difficult time. Kim Smith |

| Still Learning.... Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Penny Glover Through my membership of the Randstad Harings (BS-AC 1913) I was fortunate to know both Jacques and Penny although, with hindsight, neither as well as I should. Jacques was, in short, a gentleman. Whether as a student receiving compliments or criticism or as an instructor gently coaxing the best out of a student he was always radiated a calm confidence that was entirely infectious. His sense of humour, always preceded by a glint in the eye, could be counted on to break the ice or make a difficult situation easy. I dived with him only once and it will always be my regret that more opportunities didn't arise. Penny was - well Penny. My abiding memories are of her explaining her Inspiration to a group us whilst sat in the jacuzzi on the boat in Chuuk Lagoon and of her giving myself and two other divers the most intense 60 minutes I have ever spent underwater during an Advanced Instructor course in Zeeland. Both in their way were the kind of people who make the BS-AC tick. Both will be very sadly missed by all those who knew them. My sincerest condolences to their family and friends Antony Slegg |

| Re: Penny Glover Jaques and me were working for the same company. I felt very sad when I heard what happen. I still feel very sad. I can't say I knew him.But I very often met him and he was always a very friendly man. A real gentleman...... There are no words to describe this tragedy. I want to express my condolences to Jaques's and Penny's family and friends. Z. |
