| Peter Symes Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Allan Greisen has died Allan was one of a rare breed, who just made the impossible happen and life entertaining and exciting. Boredom was not in his vocabulary. I can't help thinking that in another and bigger country he and his antics might have ended up as another show on Discovery Channel. He pulled off some incredible stunts just for the hell of it. From driving across Greenland, driving under a Danish strait, to searching for and possible salvaging airplanes and boats in Greenland, Russia and Denmark. And I possibly only know half of it. Allan was fun and pleasant too, helpful and having his heart in the right place. According to the latest but largely unsubstantiated snippets in the Danish press he seemed to get have gotten into trouble, possibly aiding another diver, while conducting a Inspiration course in the Red Sea. I don't have solid information either but it would indeed have been in his nature to do everything possible to come to somebody else's rescue even at his own expense. It is hard fathom that Allan and his bigger than life presence is not around any more. It made the world a great deal poorer and a duller place to be . Allan, you'll be missed. Silent bubbles, my friend, where ever you are - and thanks Peter Symes Editor and publisher X-Ray International Dive Magazine |

| Submerge Productions Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Allan Greisen has died We just returned from Hurghada Egypt this evening where we were informed of the tragic news. My sincere condolences to Allan's friend, family and the Danish rebreather diver community. We saw his group checking in at Hurghada airport and can only imagine how they must have felt. RIP Allan and I wish his buddy a full recovery. Peter |

I was on the boat and will post a report of what is known of the accident in a cobble of days when I get some text translated and written what is known. I have written about the accident, but I have been asked not to publish it before the autopsy and some examinations are done. Our thoughts go to his Mette and there two kids. Poul He drowned in the surface after rescuing his unconscious dive buddy from 59 meters. There is yet no explanation why the dive buddy fainted or why Allan fainted at the surface and drowned. The dive buddy had no symptoms of DCS. Allan was diving for fun not conducting a course Allan died a hero. R.I.P. Poul ![]() Last edited by PoulO : 6th December 2007 at 09:44. |

![]() | Re: Allan Greisen has died allan greisen is dead ___ that was the word of the priest at the funeral ,and these words hit me hard because it where the ultimate truth and i knew it, but until that time i somehow didnt quite reconised the fact that i wasnt going to see him again. we that knew allan are facing a great loss he will indeed be missed as a freind as a dive buddy, explorer, innovator, and so much more ,his family faces the loss of a loving father and husband and my deepest compassion and thougts goes to mette his wife and his two children .but despite the sorrow we have to remember that he died saving another fellow diver who apperently fainted at appox 60m brougt him to the surface ignoring his own deco obligation and died at surface he could have done otherwise but i dont think that he ever considered any other option because he was the kind of person who allways put him self at last so he died a hero we must remember that . allan was an expierenced diver and had been diving rebreather since 1999 and was together with jan jørgensen more than enyone else in denmark the first to introduce rebreathers in the danish diving community and in denmark he throug the years established a higly recomended tech dive centre well reputated for outstanding service and reliability and besides the diving buisnes ran a company as a building contrator and was well known as a man who could handel most things that other found too difficult he was indeed a man which allways found a way to accomplish a mission . we all do our very best every time we go diving but sometimes the sky isnt blue and water isnt wet and things like this happens ,but we all do it for the love of the sport and so did allan .i among so many others will miss him in so many ways,in greif and respect your friend richard. ps ( when every things is setteled i know that a full accident report will be revealed so please dont speculate until further)
