My heart goes out to his wife and his buddies who tried so hard to save him- we all know how he looked forward to this particular dive in the past couple of months.
From all at MV Trident , condolances to Sven's family and friends, especailly the poor buggers in the water at the time

He was a great help promoting us down-under and good late -night company at sea,

Jamie, Stewart , Mike

Re: In memorium: Sven Paepke.

Readers of this 'in memoriam' thread who are outside Australia may be interested to know that a ceremony took place today (Sunday 11 November) on a grassy headland overlooking one of Sydney's best known shore dive sites - Bare Island, just inside Botany Bay.

Many divers gathered in the sunshine with Sven's wife, mother, brother, work colleagues and friends. There were rebreather pilots, twin-tank wreck divers, and a couple of boat skippers (past and present).

These are not people who would turn up merely for the sake of form, and their presence was a testament to the high regard and affection held for Sven.

Reminiscences were touching and often funny, the atmosphere was cordial and supportive, and the feeling was that we would all miss a good mate.

RIP Sven, you helped me online as much as in the water ..

Let this dive be the best one.. the one that never ends.

Thoughts are to his family, and the people on the dive... sad sad day.
