Re: 2007 Megalodon Price Tag

Extracted from the prices listing pdf. file....

Could someone elaborate on this system below.....(?)
  1. Single counter lung and loop system: This system allows the diver to have two separate Megs and breathing loops mounted as stages on the sides of the diver or back mounted. The diver may also have just one main counter lung mounted on the chest on one side freeing up the other side. Price TBD.

cheers

Possible future option for divers who would want a multimeg system.

A couple of questions:
1) Do you really get 3 AL tanks "19 cuft/2.6 liter, 3 AL 3000 PSI/207 BAR cylinders"?

No, only TWO tanks. The size is 3 litre tank (for you metric peoples).

2) What are the first stages, I heard they are now Apex?

No, MK2PLUS PISTON FIRST STAGE

The workhorse. “Simple reliability” best describes the MK2Plus. It offers a combination of simplicity and reliability in a very compact design that remains unmatched in today’s market.

DESIGN & PERFORMANCE
Standard piston technology. The simplest first stage piston mechanism that exists, with fantastic standard performance.
Unmatched reliability and easy maintenance. For more than 40 years the first choice of a vast majority of diving centers, training and rental
facilities and recreational divers worldwide.

COMFORT
4 low pressure ports.
Single high pressure port.

3) What is the current version of the APECS software (2.X?)

The lastest unit I received here at the shop had the APECS 2.01K
How's that?

Thanks jeff,

Now I remember I did read that thread by steve james. I believe he is the one who initiated Leon to put this reduntdant system into production in the near future.

Cheers

3AL is the US Dept of Transport code for aluminium cylinders. In this case a 19 cuft cylinder (2.6litre with a rated pressure of 207 bar (3000psi)).

£4500 is that not cheaper than that old yellow plastic classic thingy and how much would a inspo with some decent electrics, like some HH cost

Sadly in the UK it would be £4500 + VAT + Import duty

VAT is £787.50 I dont know what the import duty is but say £200 then about £100 for shipping,

So the "Classic type" version a Meg would cost about £5587

The Vision which has the arguably "decent electronics" is about this money in the UK.

Buy the unit through the instructor and you can get a discount. When I did my CCR training in the UK in Oct 04 the instructor offered a new unit Classic with large wing and ADV and training for £4500.00 I dont think things have changed much.

If I were in the US id defo get a Meg but over here the decision is not quite so easy.

no ADV and a 16kg lift wing umm
Hence the STARTS at so add another £200 for an ADV an 22kg wing, still a hell of a lot cheaper than a Meg over here

APECS 2.01K (This is what has been shipping in January's units.)
