COPIS MEG and VR3 Deco

can a VR3 be intergrated with a 4th cell to handle DECO with the COPIS MEG?

Re: COPIS MEG and VR3 Deco

I would answer; why bother? In this thread I mention the trial I ran with my classic KISS. There just isn't a need for plumbed in deco.

Re: COPIS MEG and VR3 Deco

You can plumb in pretty much anything if you have the balls to start drilling holes .

As for the integrated deco argument. I don't see a need for it but its nice to have. I am much more interested in having a separate system for monitoring PP02. When my computer controlled primary screws up it a worry that the secondary operates on the same programming so a totally isolated /separate system is nice IMHO. Whether or not its completely necessary is another issue.

Recently i switched from the VR3 to the Shearwater and this will give me a read out on all three cells separately which I think is of great benefit as a redundant system. Connection will cost me about £150 so its not a big expense. If it cost me £500 then i probably wouldn't bother but a cost/benefit analysis on £150 works for me.

While there may not be a need for plumbed in deco a redundant pO2 display, even if just from a single cell, is not a bad idea. Until the HUD becomes available for the COPIS as an option, there is no redundancy at all.

Personally though I would prefer either a redundant display that shows all sensor values or an integrated deco computer that does.

Re: COPIS MEG and VR3 Deco

So if I under stand this correctly.... I have just the one hand set with the 3 PPO2 read outs from 3 Cells... there is no other redundancy for the COPIS rig . am I correct?

how long till the HUD will be ready for the COPIS MEG?

Re: COPIS MEG and VR3 Deco

Yep. The meg thought process seems to be "start copis for sporty stuff, where loss of electronics is a simple bailout, if you want more committing/deeper diving, go eCCR".

As of right now that is correct. The HUD from what I understand is well on its way and will add a level of redundancy to the copis. At this stage the copis has about the same redundancy as the KISS handset (none) but for recreational diving it is fine.

Erm, minor point. The kiss handsets are FULLY redundant from each other, you cant get much more redundancy than that

Re: COPIS MEG and VR3 Deco

What about using a plumbed in Shearwater GF and HUD? That gives triple redundancy and deco info.

Re: COPIS MEG and VR3 Deco

well the COPIS meg provides me with a great upgrade path..

one other question.. are the 3 PPO2 displays on the MEG independant from each other or do they share things in common like power supply?
