Question Spares equipment required?

Yes, its me again!

Ok, Have got the meg, Backplate on order, wing as yet undecided, think it will be the Halcyon CCR 35 or the Dive Rite Trek wing.

My next question is: What spares are good to have? I will have to get the head calibration kit but I dont know what is a good list of spares to order..Any suggestions?

Is there anywhere I can find a spares/ consumables price list for the meg? It would be nice to see what bits are available?

Thank You Once Again

Re: Spares equipment required?

i just have spare batteries and a complete spare o ring kit. you can also get spare hoses. I haven't seen a list other than on some posts on rbw 6 months or so back. If you get a list I'd be interested to see it. In the uk you can get some meg stuff from custom divers. They do lithium batteries, sofna, cells and a few other bits and pieces.

Living in Asia is not the best place to get spares for rebreathers so holding a good selection of spares is essential to the maintenance of our units for the Meg I would look at having.

Deluxe O-ring kit- includes main o-rings, battery, clip for head to can, ADV Schrader valve (as its not a standard size), spare handset button, spare spring for the scrubber can lid & a few other useful extras.

I would also hold a couple O2 sensors.

Possible a spare solenoid hose feed.

Mushroom valves for DSV

And that’s about it the rest you can get from most dive shops.

You may also consider a few extra tools.

Schrader valve tool

Oil filter removal tool (helps in removing T pieces, as they tend to become quite difficult to remove after a while.

Cheers

Re: Spares equipment required?

Richie Stevens down at Deep Blue in Plymouth usually has spares kits in . He's got about ten(!) units in at the moment so is all Meg'd up .

Getting a spares kit off him when I'am down there diving at the end of January. Well worth giving him a bell if you need anything.

Re: Spares equipment required?

Spare kit for the Meg............

After diving it a few months i've put togehter 'my' spare kit (and taking it along everywhere). Got me de deluxe O ring kit, some mushroom valves, an solenoid with the base, and isolator valve for the dill., some hoses (LP and HP), swivels for the pressure gauges, a tube of O2 compatible grease and a few O2 cells.

All this i stuffed with some tools, the Head only Cal. Kit and an oxy/he analyser in a nice and handy pelican case wich travels easy. So nothing will withold me for diving the Meg. (only if my girl wants to dive the dolphin together, some times i have to make a compromise )

Cheers

Windy

How are those 2l cylinders treating you??

Get:
Deluxe O ring kit (this also includes lots of other nik naks)
Spare batteries
Head only cal kit

As a bare minimum.

Also consider:
Spare hose kit
Golem Gear radial scrubber
Golem Gear BOV

Cheers,

Pete

All of the above

but after 2 years with about 1 global circumferance travelling, the only spare I needed (apart from batteries/sensors) were lid snaps (keep the rear facing ones closed), and bungees for my sidemount.

My swagelock fitting is getting a bit corroded on the exterior.

Hi Womble

Cylinders fit great on the mini meg, so far this year I have only managed 1 dive learning on the meg due to our glorious weather!

I have put together quite a spares package now with help from Dave Crockford.

I would love to get a meg BOV but funds dictate otherwise at the mo and I cant bring myself to pay the import duty!

Re: Spares equipment required?

I hope no one minds me posting this, but having read a few of the posts I thought it may be of interest.

I keep a large stock of spare parts at the dive centre in Plymouth, and as I do this full time ie not a hobby, Sean or myself are always around to send parts out. I have a shipment of spares coming over in the next 2 weeks including Mark Lake's long awaited Neoprene Lungs so if you need something I don't have now is the time to get it on the next shipment

If you need any head repairs etc then I have a loan head that can be used while your unit is fixed, I hope to be able to offer this for the COPIS too

I also have dumpy 3 litre and 2 litre steel cylinders with LH and RH valves always in stock plus new low profile cylinder mounts that allow the cylinders to sit much closer to the can than Tiger gear does

At the centre are 2 school / rental Megs so if yours is on the blink or missing in action please give me a shout on 07791 152 317 or email me at rich@deepbluetech.co.uk

regards

rich stevenson
