There are many ways to skin a cat so I thought I'd show how I carry mine as hand luggage. I use a Storm case 2500 which is exactly the airline carry on maximum. I have drilled holes in the bottom to match up with the bolts for the backplate. I put the bolts through the case and screw them up with the backplate nuts. The case can also fit the first stages and anything else that you fancy cramming in (though I usually put a microfibre towel inside). This means that all you have to carry in your hold baggage is your backplate, counterlings, wing and hoses (as well as the usual other gubbins). Wheels on the case allow for nonchalant and innocent looks at check in (providing they don't weigh it . Anyone else doing anything similar?

I had sport kiss in backpack then. I will be doing the same with my meg this trip but I noticed Ron didn't use the overhead rack above his seat![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Travelling with a Meg as hand luggage Thanks for making this post. It's really useful information!! However, I would like to add a bit about air travel in Asia. It seems that airlines have different policies about baggage allowances. Eg. Thai Airways would weigh golf bags with the luggage (happened to me) whereas a friend of mine flew Malaysian Airlines from Malaysia to Thailand did not have to weigh in his golf bag. The other thing I encountered recently was when I was flying from Laos to Bangkok, I had a conforming size carry on (those bags with wheels and pull handle) but it was bulging because I stuffed 2 books in the side pockets. When I got the the aircraft door, the ground staff who were where actually asked to pick my bag up to feel the weight. I was ok, but the passenger infront of me was asked to check in his hand lugguage. Cheers -Keng |
