| Re: Wing and Backplate Choice Last time I called ISC, they mentioned that pretty much everyone over there uses the Dive Rite Trek wing. Guess it depends on if you're diving with a dry suit or not. |

| Re: Wing and Backplate Choice Steel 3L tanks, SS plate, and the Trek wing. Works perfectly when diving dry... No weight needed in Fresh water and only three or so pounds in Salt. I've not yet dove it wet yet... I'll know more when I get back from Mexico. Cliff |

| Re: Wing and Backplate Choice anybody know if the Halcyon Evolve 40lb is any good or does the circular design catch on the bottom when stood up? Don't know about the Evolve but Halcyon Explorer CCR 35 has been discussed at length in these threads:![]() http://www.rebreatherworld.com/gener...ther-wing.html http://www.rebreatherworld.com/megal...ng-market.html I have one and am happy with the way I trim out with it. |

| Re: Wing and Backplate Choice anybody know if the Halcyon Evolve 40lb is any good or does the circular design catch on the bottom when stood up? ![]() you'll find the donut shape of the wing won't work properly with any rebreather, and the positioning of the inflator hose will mess with your breathing loop hoses. check out halcyon's ccr-35 wing or some of the others , like diverite or oxycheq they all have bcd's designed for rebreather divers. all the best mountain diver |

I'm pretty sure that the DiveRite Venture wing, is both a Donut, and was used on the Meg in the movie 'The Cave' I'm looking at getting an Oxycheq Vertex 42 when they come out next month.. its a loop as well.. hopefully it will work for me ![]() -Scott |

I'm pretty sure that the DiveRite Venture wing, is both a Donut, and was used on the Meg in the movie 'The Cave' fit ,form, and function are three rules of design.does the donut (wing) work yes it will, does it work properly? not for the gear set -up your asking it to.it wasn't designed for this purpose.i don't want to get into logistics of application, only to say this, when the above criteria is met,you solve one of the biggest pieces of diving, "the gear issue".I'm looking at getting an Oxycheq Vertex 42 when they come out next month.. its a loop as well.. hopefully it will work for me ![]() -Scott all the best, mountain diver. p.s. alway's remember- you can alway's make the choice, you don't get to choose the consquence. |

| Re: Wing and Backplate Choice Here is an unedited email from a customer who is diving the Vertex 42 I had at DEMA. He could not wait for the production run. He dives a Meg. "Just a note to tell you how much I enjoy the Vertex 42 wing! I have been diving the Signature series #40 on my Megladon rebreather and did not believe it could get any better until I slapped on the Vertex 42. The wing is streamlined, incredibly well balanced and bulletproof. The shape is ideal for a rebreathers that tend to carry a little extra weight at the bottom due to inverted tanks. The Vertex 42 vents gas flawlessly. Often as you approach the end of the dive and are close to neutral buoyancy you need to vacate the last little bit of gas out of the bag. With most wings, due to their "U" shape, you must go slightly vertical and vent from the hose vice the rear dump to get the last bit of gas vacated. Not so with the Vertex 42! Simply stay horizontal in the water, lift your tail slightly and pull the rear dump cord. The gas moves effortlessly from one side of the cell to the other and out the rear dump. This is a sweet wing! It is amazing how such a small design change can significantly improve the trim and gas flow characteristics of a wing. Many of my students wonder how I maintain trim and buoyancy impeccably throughout the water column; unfortunately I have to tell them the truth and say "it's the Duffy technique" "The 40# Wing U shaped wing was designed for the KISS rebreather and it worked well with a number of other RBs. We made slight modifications to the 40# SS and the result was the Vertex 42. I am sure once I have the production run completed, you'll hear similar feedback. They won't be out until late January as I am packing everything up now and moving the business to cave country. Best regards, Patrick Duffy --- OxyCheq OxyCheq ... oxygen analyzers and oxygen sensors fit ,form, and function are three rules of design.does the donut (wing) work yes it will, does it work properly? not for the gear set -up your asking it to.it wasn't designed for this purpose.i don't want to get into logistics of application, only to say this, when the above criteria is met,you solve one of the biggest pieces of diving, "the gear issue". all the best, mountain diver. p.s. alway's remember- you can alway's make the choice, you don't get to choose the consquence.
