| Backplate for Meg? Hi Guys... A little help if you would'nt mind.. I'm in the process of sorting backplate and harness for my new Meg in Feb. I'm going to go with either the Low Profile Mark Meadows plate or Golem Gear's offering the Stream back plate. My question is does anyone know if the Golem gear bp is 316 or not? Or any other suggestions? |

The Halcyon SS backplate is a nice fit and SHINES. Their CCR-35 wing is sweet also.

| Re: Backplate for Meg? I have the Mark Meadows plate and use it for warm-water diving. With a 5mm wet suit and faber 3l tanks the weighting is just about perfect for me. I do find the dog-bone plate a little uncomfortable though. It could stand to be a bit flatter in profile. For colder water I use a Deep Sea Supplies SS plate with their lightest weight additional weight plates attached. With a drysuit, typical cold-water underwear and faber 3l tanks, this again makes weighting just about perfect. |

| Re: Backplate for Meg? Thanks for the help guys.. I'm going to try out the lightweight plate. If it doesn't work out I have a ss full plate I can use from my oc gear. I already have a DR venture wing which I intend to use. The Halcyon CCR-35 I think is awaiting CE approval this side of the pond and isn't available yet(I'm open to correction). I am a bit worried that I may lighten the unit too much with the low profile plate and just be transfering weight from the unit to belt... but I guess time will tell! I just wish I didn't have to wait till Feb Thanks again.. |

| Re: Backplate for Meg? While we're talking about the Meg and weighting I have a question or two. I'm planning on placing my order with ISC in the next 3 to 4 weeks and would like to know what people diving the unit have to say about the difference in weighting and trim with the standard aluminium tanks versious the optional steel tanks. Living in south Florida most of our technicial diving is done in a shell drysuit with light undies. How is the Meg weighted with AL backplate and the AL tanks? Should I opt for the steel tanks instead? I have a SS backplate that I use to dive a single tank recreational rig should I use that instead of the AL plate? So many questions so little time. Thanks for the info.

It's never seen salt water - so I can't say anything about that, but don't think I'd need any weight in saltwater, either. If you end up needing some additional weight, some people double up on the backplates. Also - I'm using the single tank Agir wing from Salvo - fits and works beautifully - and is a lot cheaper than Halcyon's ;-) Golem Gear's CCR sidemount kit is awesome for bail out..... |
