| Ok, I havent got a meg, but in process of looking for one... I have a question for the more technical minded folk From what I understand, the standard scrubber will have a duration of about 3hours? I have been looking over the golem gear radial scrubber..I have seen it noted somewhere that scrubber duration is up to 9 hours? now, going by simple mathematics, if the radial can last up to 3x longer, is it not cheaper in the long(ish) run to purchase one of these to offset the cost of buying extra lime? I could be wrong..and probably about to find out how wrong I am but is this a realistic scenario?.. |

The numbers are quite fuzzy and ratings are not apples to apples. I have both the stock 5.5lb axial scrubber as well as the ISC made 7.5lb radial. The axial usually nets me 4 hours or so, depending on how and where I have used it, the radial gets me 6 or so, but I usually end up tossing out more scrubber cause you dont want to take a used scrubber deep and after a couple dives I find I want to do a deep one again, so out it goes and new lime in. I now tend to choose which scrubber can I use based on the dive Im doing. I have, during my first testing of the radial, used it as long as 9 hours, but in warm water and the last 4 hours doing shallow dives less than 60 feet.I have a question for the more technical minded folk From what I understand, the standard scrubber will have a duration of about 3hours? I have been looking over the golem gear radial scrubber..I have seen it noted somewhere that scrubber duration is up to 9 hours? now, going by simple mathematics, if the radial can last up to 3x longer, is it not cheaper in the long(ish) run to purchase one of these to offset the cost of buying extra lime? I could be wrong..and probably about to find out how wrong I am but is this a realistic scenario?.. OK, here is some opinion: Stock scrubber is fine for most divers, if you are going stupid deep, past 300fsw or so, the radial breathes better and is very efficient in its use of lime. the advantage of the axial though, is you can pop the top of the unit and see (if using color indicating sorb) how much of the material you used. The color indicator is not perfect, but just a guide of use. Still, you will want to use fresh sorb if doing a deep dive. The other advantage of the axial (clear housing) is I can toss out the purple stuff and then dump whats left in a sealed container and use it for the pool (only). So, my advice, until you start doing monster dives and really NEED the radial, go with the stock axial. hope this helps

| Re: meg scrubbers I have been looking over the golem gear radial scrubber... Can't talk to you about the duration yet, but as I just opened the package for the Golem radial scrubber about 2 minutes ago...It is beautifully made and high professional quality. The spring-loaded top is ingenous, I can't understand why others haven't designed as such since it sure will make packing much easier. Jakub, I also think you could modify it easily to work in the YBOD scrubber - if you want.

| Re: meg scrubbers Thanks Phi ![]() I thought that you would like it. I am not sure that the temp stick would work in the radial scrubber, since the sorb does not get used linearly (is that a word?) along the axis. There would need to be multiple sensors or stick along the radial path to convey the same info. It would be shorter - thus the usage algorithm would have to be changed, etc.. I'll look into that when I get my hands on YBOD with one. There aren't that many around here. |

Quality is superb!Quote: I am not sure that the temp stick would work in the radial scrubber, since the sorb does not get used linearly (is that a word?) along the axis. If you make one, I would use it with my YBOD-Shearwater so no Temp-Stick won't be an issue for me personally.I'll look into that when I get my hands on YBOD with one. I'm sure there is a higher number af that model on the marked, than the vision. I'll buy one, having seen how well the GolemGear BOV is made, I have no problems trying out aftermarked items from you. |
