| Liquid Productions, LLC Current Rebreather/s: | Some Meg Mods from a Newbie.... Ok - with just over 50 hours or so on my Meg - I have meade a few mods on it that have been covered here before - but one that I haven't seen that I thought I'd share.... In the begining, I was bending the clips that hold on the head, and HATED the insdie clips up against your backplate/BC.. So - After ordering 10 new clips from Southco - Part#: 97-50-120-12 (Link here). I totally took of the 2 inside clips off (against your back) and only replaced the two clips on the outside of that can. It makes life a lot easier when taking off the head quickly and easily to turn off you unit, just take the head off to dry for the night, etc. As I was browsing Southco's catalog - I found this part - Part #: 97-58-101-25 - A Secondary Catch (At this linked pdf, click here, on the bottom of page 3) , which screws into the bottom screw of the clip and acts as a locking mechanism and prevents your clips from coming off without pushing that part down a little first.... They have been working very well - but I'm not sure how they would stand up in salt water.... But - It's a pretty nifty extra to ensure your top clips don't come undone. Ok - I know - It's overkill - the idea that the top two clips will come unattached is probably 0 - but with only 2 clips on the head now - I though the extra safety would be good - and they are dirt cheap. By the way - I'm not saying I'm the first person to take off the two back hatches - I have seen it done before - and it make life a lot easier, both taking the head off and on, but haven't seen it posted on here. Anyone else doing this? Thoughts or Ideas about this practice? Thanks, Last edited by dgschott : 3rd December 2006 at 12:59. |

| Ladies bring a plate ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Some Meg Mods from a Newbie.... I know of a few units that have had them removed on by the owners and no ill effects have been reported so far. I'm considering removing the one on the BC inflator side as that is a tricky one for how I have my custom plate set up.

| Re: Some Meg Mods from a Newbie.... The front two latches can be a pain, but I won't be removing mine. My dive partner unlatched both back clips during a dive by crawling through some tight areas in a shipwreck. If you dive in an overhead environment you may want to reconsider. |

| Liquid Productions, LLC Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Some Meg Mods from a Newbie.... I did think about that - And I added the locking mechanisms to the top two latches (Product descrption in my earlier post) - Which should help. The head is on there so tight with no latches, I wouldn't be that concerned, but I was concerned enough to add the locks on it since I do a lot of cave diving..... Well... Actually, now - that's all I really do.... ;-) |
