| Re-Blacking Lungs. Can/How is it done. Awhile ago I noticed my counterlungs were turning red . So I stopped immersing them in Virkon (which was about after every 20 hrs operation or so).I'd like to make them black again. Dyeing implies boiling in water for 10 minutes or so. Can this be done? or is that idea a brain , and if so any useful suggestions? |

Awhile ago I noticed my counterlungs were turning red Cathy's and mine are the same, not too sure if it is sun-bleaching, or from rust in the water we use to clean kit. . Perhaps there is a marker pen you could use that would not cause any damage... |

I dive in clorinated pools, old mines that turn most of my brightwork black, the ocean, my unit is often in the sun for long periods of time and it too gets a Virkon wash and it shows no sign of being anything other than very black. I can't for the life of me think what could be causing this. Both of you are in Malaysia (same town supply?) could your town supply be doing something very odd? Care to post a picture? ![]()

I put one on a (fat b'stards) black wetsuit to show the colour difference - I am suprised myself more like fox red than black now ![]() ![]() ![]() Interesting is the back side which is certainly not sun bleached. I would imagine the back bottom is rarely in the sun at all. ![]() Gilles is in Miri whereas I am in KL so we certainly dont share the same water supply, that is not to say that they don't do the same thing to the water of course!. |

Hasn't happened to my Meg though and it is in the pool fairly often as well. Send the pictures to ISC, call them and have a chat about it.

Well swimming pool use is limited to once the water here has chlorine in it though.. Have not bothered using filtered water to wash gear... that said various other pieces of cordura kit have had more exposure to the same conditions and show no sign of this discolouration.I will discuss with ISC. |

I agree looks like clorine damage..I use virkon all the time on my RBS, never had an issue.. However I don't soak my gear ( material stuff) in it, I would just use it to clean the interior of the lungs and all the hard bits get soaked afterwards..

Yours are much more red. Mine seem worse on the upper parts and I assumed that this was a result of hanging them upside down to dry (causing unrinsed Virkon to accumulate and stain. |
