Post Article: modifying a Meg for deep dives

Hi all,

After the deep dives on the HIJMS Yamashiro, I received quite a lot of PMs about different modifications I've done on my Meg. So I put everything together in an article here:

http://www.rebreatherworld.com/megal...html#post80082

this article is also available to download (pdf file) here: Cedric Verdier, Technical & Recreational Diving Instructor Trainer. Articles

I'm interested in all the modifications you've done on your units. So please share your experience about what works and what doesn't .

Cheers

Re: Article: modifying a Meg for deep dives

Hi Cedric,

As ever, you are answering questions that I have without me asking for them. I PM'd you a few days back and received some excellent advice from you for which I'm very greatful. Your article replies to the other questions I was going to ask you! I made a comment about bailout on the following post http://www.rebreatherworld.com/gener...ail-out-2.html and wondered if you could make any comments - the mask is Drager (once the DSV arrives!) As for the comment on hoses, my cave diving Instructor, Mike Netto dived with his tanks inverted and said that he used standardised hose lengths from Dive-rite (he was a tester for the Optima so has a very good relationship with them). One final request - any chance of some photos showing the build up. Also, what sort of wing do you use?

Thanks again

Regards,

Nick

Re: Article: modifying a Meg for deep dives

Hi Cedric, thanks for the excellent advice about deep diving. You've got me thinking about inverting the valves on the Prism-can I reach them?

Also, I had not thought about the IP/back gas starting pressure for deep dives. Simple issue that must be delt with. Not that I'd ever do a 150M dive with 75 bar of back gas to start with... -Andy

Re: Article: modifying a Meg for deep dives

Would you please post a picture of the offboard ADV block with the shut off valve (including what it looks like with the hose connected to it)?

Re: Article: modifying a Meg for deep dives

I'm interested in the changes you made to the C/L attachments - am I correct that your bottom hold-downs are directly off the plate, and instead of them coming "down" they're actually going under the arms, more-or-less following the shoulder straps on the hog harness?
