| S21 M.I.B. ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Hi all, I just come back from Centralia WA where I've done the ISC Technician course. Extremely interesting (Thanks to Leon, Steve and all the ISC team). Really a course to do if you want to know everything (or almost everything) about the Meg, from " how to build the electronics" to "how to mess up with the glue that makes your counterlung watertight".... It also gave me the opportunity to work with the COPIS, a Meg that combines the simplicity of an mCCR and the reliability and robustness of the standard Meg. And of course I serviced and upgraded my own unit, that definitely deserved it after the last deep dives. Waiting for the APECS 3.0 (a lot of very promising features!), APECS 2.0.5a is in its final test phase. Already plenty of good stuff in it: - the power saving feature is now selectable, as is the backlight - the solenoid injection is better controlled - some of the features from the previous versions have been slightly changed for a safer, simpler, more intuitive interface (altitude, fiO2, etc) So no drastic changes yet, but nice to have it. But don't call Leon to upgrade your electronics yet. This version is not implemented for the time being. Cheers

This might be a dumb question, but I'm not so sure how the whole upgrading works wiht ISC? I bought my Meg a few months ago and have the latest APECS version - (k i believe)- When a new upgrade comes out, (2.05a) does he upgrade it for free, or is there a fee associated for the upgrade? |

From what i've been told, the new version will require a whole new head...Not free...

| Re: Beta testing APECS 2.05a Apecs 3 will need a new head, for your Apecs 2 I suggest you email Steve Stollen at ISC for a quote on the small fee your upgrade may be. However if what you have works why not stick with it, I will not be rushing to get my Meg software updated it works fine as it is. Cheers, Dave Cooper.

Call Steve 360 330 9018 to find out if there is a charge for the upgrade. I hear that all inspiration and evolution users now have to pay $5,000 per year for annual maintainence, plus shipping to and from the UK and APV expects each unit to have to remain for at least 3 months due to the que for service wait, cause they only have one 72 year old man doing the service and his eyesight isnt too good. Thats what i was told... ![]() ...giving you the gears there Gill ![]()

I'm looking forward to hear about the features - would love to be able to not have to push a button to bring the screen back to life throughout the whole dive! I'll wait 'till I hear that the upgrade is available on here I guess - then give Steve a call. btw....Who is Steve?apecs 3 will. recent apecs 2.* systems coming out of the meg hatchery now have a 4 pin plug on the battery pack, making software upgrades very easy.
