| S21 M.I.B. ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Hi all, A brand new breed of Megalodon CCR has been recently created in a dark cave of central Florida: the MaxiMeg came to birth a few days ago, based on the need of extra bail-out gas and streamlined configuration. As the name can suggest, it's a very standard meg (if such a thing can ever exist!) with two 80cf cylinders. Et voila! The result is an impressive unit that weights more than a dead elephant and nearly killed my back. However I enjoyed it as there is no more need for extra bail-out/sling/sidemounted tanks. And for all the DIR guys who invaded the caves in Florida before the GUE conference, the MaxiMeg looks like an RB80 (at least when you're very far away). You can also call it Meg80... Cheers

| Re: Here is the MaxiMeg That was going to be my question. Hell, I TRIED to mount the cylinders on the K1 right-side-up. I couldn't reliably reach the valves in street clothes. Well, ok, I could do it, but I sure as hell didn't "dig it". And that was with the valves angled every which way I could figure it out. So I went back to what everyone else does - inverted.

| Re: Here is the MaxiMeg Hi Cedric. What gases do you have in the tanks? Do you really have 80cuft of O2, or are they both diluent and there's a concealed 3l cylinder of O2 somewhere? That configuration would make more sense to me.

| S21 M.I.B. ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Here is the MaxiMeg Hi all, It was just a try but this configuration works quite well. No problem to reach the valves. Main benefit: if you don't have access to a filling station (expedition in the middle of the Sahara - where do you dive there?), an 80 of diluent, an 80 of O2 and you don't have to refill. And plenty of bail-out gas for shallow diving I reckon I have to find: - 2 black 80s instead of only one - a pair of extra vertebraes and a back-up spinal cord (to be stowed around your neck in normal configuration) Cheers

| Earning the green stuff.. Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Here is the MaxiMeg Very interesting. Have you tried other tank sizes (i.e 60's or 50's)? Or maybe 40's on a mini Meg..... Very impressive. I groan when I pick up double 80's, much less a Meg in the middle. Isn't there a controller out there that let's you use 80% or so for the O2 mix instead of 100%? Then if you had to go OC, the range for the "O2" tank is greater.
