| New Meg.....recommendations pls Just to introduce myself, I have been diving since 2000 and have gradually progressed to a full trimix OC diver. The logistics of having to travel to my LDS for trimix and rich O2 fills has become a real ball-ache and I have decided that a rebreather is the best option. After weighing up all the available units over several months, I think the Meg is the one for me. Now this is where the real work begins!! There are so many options that I not sure which to go for. My current wish list is:
When speaking to Leon, I made this out to be about ~$10,200. I plan to use it with my 99lb OMS bladder. I have checked out all the other options available (http://www.rebreatherworld.com/t874-.html…….thanks Dave!) and I now can’t see the wood for the trees!!! What are your collective recommendations please? |

| Hi Mark, Seems like you have chosen a good package, that is the one I have. I find the Shearwater to be intuitive and like the one handset approach. You may find that the OMS wing is a little big for the Meg, I use a Dive-Rite RecWing and others use the Travel or Venture wing. You want to do the training here in the UK or are you going to Centralia? Cheers Dave Cooper.

| you can shave a few dollars of buy not getting cylinders or first stages and gauges from leon, youmay find your oms wing a little on the large side you dont need that much lift, I run a dive rite wreck wing, the dive rite venture wing is also popular, |

| Package looks great - the dive rite Trekwing gets my vote - you can see mine in the break down, its what Leon uses and reccomends. It also makes hose routing very neat and tidy with none of the over the top yucky bunching your are forced down with some wings (just remember its called the Ford flow *grins*). Though I would say try yours first before ordering one - the nice thing about the Meg being so modular! I would also add an ADV isolator I find it very useful for tweaking and getting minimum loop volume - a little trick Leon showed me. What first stages are you going to go with - Poseidons gets my vote and is what I use, great hose routing and plenty of oompth to supply you if you go open loop. Incidently its what Leon uses as well. Stuart |

He already has it, it is the DIV. Admittedly I had to check my price list to remember it was called that.Quote: (Originally Posted by schford) What first stages are you going to go with - Poseidons gets my vote and is what I use, great hose routing and plenty of oompth to supply you if you go open loop. The Scubapros will be fine for open loop, even if the ADV freeflows with the DIV and OPV there should be no problem. Cheers, Dave Cooper.

I have never had any probs with Poseidons and have always used them...If they are good enough for the guy who designs and makes the Megs they are good enough for me! They do cost more - but I have always been a firm believer in you get what you pay for....and lets face it if your buying a Meg you probably want the best available! Stuart |

Stuart In the end, I stuck with my Atomic M1's. I had 7 of 'em already, all the repair tools and a bunch of repair kits. They've performed flawlessly for me over the years, delivering more then enough gas at trimix depths on OC. I never had a free-flow, even in 36 degree water (I'm not sure what that is in Metric..1c? 2 maybe?) They route excellently with the g-snaps using the patented Ford-flow routing with the trob modification (wait for the photos...). I am quite happy with the results. |
