![]() | MK2 first stages and cold water I'm in the last stages of choosing how to order my Meg. I'm hesitating in the choice of regulators. The Meg comes standard, for now with Scubapro MK2 first stages, I am hesitant as to their response in cold water. I know that they will not be very solicited but in our neighbourhood, winter diving involves temps of close to 0 C in the St-Lawrence river in it's fresh water part and sometimes sub zero temps for the salt water area. The risk of freeze ups and free-flows does worry me a bit. Anyone with experience in these conditions would care to comment?

![]() ![]() | Re: MK2 first stages and cold water I've never had a problem with a MK2 on O/C here in Alaska. Water temps get down to 34'F I would guess that's about 1 deg C. For O/C they wouldn't be my first choice but, I have several in my rentals and have never gotten any complaints about them. Dave |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: MK2 first stages and cold water Marc, I started a post some time ago wrt a first stage for my Meg. http://www.rebreatherworld.com/megal...ds-4-megs.html I have had no problems with the Mk II + that came with my Meg and also use the same first stage for my argon bottles. The Mk II+ is a workhorse reg for sure. The amount of gas required when using your Meg is pss. That's it. Very little flow through your first stage when using CCR. For OC, that's a different story because your first stage is working, working, working for every breathe you take. There, my 2 cents worth, eh. Jeff
