Radial Scrubber for Meg

As promised here are couple of photos of the Golem radial scrubber for the Meg.
  • It will fit Standard Meg with an insert at on the bottom of the can(water trap), and the Movie Meg directly with absorbent pad on the bottom.
  • holds 7.5 lbs of Sodasorb 6-12 and over 8 lbs of Sofnolime 8-12
  • spring-loaded lid to prevent settling during transport
  • very durable - machined from delrin and stainless steel.
More photos will be on the Golem site shortly.

What's it like to pack?

Yes, the spacer is included. It needs to be there for proper fit.

I have no problems to pack it. Have been diving it for past 8 months. Fill it 1/4, tap on the sides, another 1/4, and so on until full. Make sure that the sorb is level on top (there is a fill line on both outside and inside circumference). I always fill it so the springs in the lid are almost completely compressed and then screw on the retaining ring. Then shake it to make sure that I do not hear any rattling grains.
That is it.
The Sodasorb keg plug fits nicely into the center column during filling and Sofnolime cover goes over it

Re: Radial Scrubber for Meg

At how much duration is it safely rated?

How was it tested?

Re: Radial Scrubber for Meg

Hi Jakub,

Your scrubber looks great!! Congratulations.

You said there is a spring. Is it between the white and the black parts in the lid? In this case it means the concept is quite different from the ISC pre-production unit I have or the old Cis-Lunar scrubber...

Did you try to make a waterproof canister as well?

Cheers

Re: Radial Scrubber for Meg

Official test results are forthcoming. For now you will have to progressively test duration, as CO2 production can vary greatly in each idividual.

Thanks Cedric.
Yes, the spring is between white and black parts of the lid. There are more pictures here: Golem Radial Scrubber for the Meg
We played with various waterproof materials, but WOB was not acceptable in any. My opinion is that if you have so much water in the scrubber, the loop is usually copromised and it is time for SCR or OC. The sensors will most likely be shot as well. The radial scrubber in Meg could potentially still function even when the can is half full of water (you just have to make sure to keep it there and not move it into your mouth ).

Looks nice. It looks like it easier to pack than the different radial caister I played with (Cis-Lunar, etc)

Cheers
