| OD green anodizing I'm getting closer to ordering my Meg and I am wondering about that anodizing option. Anyone cares to comment on it's value, is it worth the 300$?

Two questions you'll want to ask yourself:- how much is the color worth to me - how much is an extra level of finish durability worth to me The black finish is hard-coat anodized. This is somewhat thicker of a finish and somewhat more durable than regular anodizing. It's available in black (which can vary slightly towards grey, depending on the specific alloy) Regular anodizing is somewhat thinner and somewhat less durable of a finish. It is available in many colors. It is still a tough finish, but less so than hardcoating. |

| Re: OD green anodizing As Tim mentioned...how much is it worth to me? I have a silver can. It was very pretty when I got it. I took the giant Meg sticker off and gum residue left behind acted as a particle collector. Ick. Now, after a few hard dives the can has scratches and residue. In the end, your can will get beat up, or someone else will beat it up for you. I figure when it looks really daggy I'll send the can off to get anodized or get a Rhino- type coating. Maybe, I'll leave it ugly? ![]() |

| Re: OD green anodizing mmmmm I love my OD Green :-) but then again it sure ain't as unique as Sarahs purple one! If memory recalls then OD Green is the toughest finish there is for the Meg can - I think it is the same as they do US Torpedoes.....

So I guess it's a flip-a-coin decision and I'll compare with my buddies machines a year later and see if I made the right decision or not ![]()

If memory recalls then OD Green is the toughest finish there is for the Meg can - I think it is the same as they do US Torpedoes..... I don't know the finish that ISC orders, but the strongest annodizing is hardcoat.. it can be dyed but only at thinner coatings.. the normal color of hardcoat is black to brownish (sometimes blueish) depending on the alloy.. hardcoat can also be inpregnated with teflon.. A hard annodize finish is nearly as hard as a diamond's surface.

| Re: OD green anodizing mmmmm I love my OD Green :-) That would be incorrect. Hardcoating is the toughest anodizing finish. Essentially it is Anodizing plus. Extra time and extra current are used to create a thicker finish.but then again it sure ain't as unique as Sarahs purple one! If memory recalls then OD Green is the toughest finish there is for the Meg can - I think it is the same as they do US Torpedoes..... It is available in any color you want - as long as you want black... |

| Re: OD green anodizing The biggest problem, however, is that the material under that finish is quite a bit softer... Yeah, but the surface will still look "marvelous" (think in a Billy crystal accent from SNL)
