| Just got back from the 1000 Islands and did a quick couple days of diving on my 1 month old meg. I took off my 38lb Agir doubles wing this time and tried the 36lb single tank wing (which is a donut wing) and loved it! The size was perfect and its trim design helped keep everything from looking/feeling cluddered. There was plenty of room to run the hoses up the backside, and it even seemed easier to get to the canister to calibrate or turn on/off. I am not sure if this is the correct wing to do 200 ft + with, but for the 6-7 dives I did up to 140ft it was perfect. Salvo is the US distributor for those interested. Louis

I have an Oxycheq doughnut wing that I have tried on my Meg and it wasn't as good as the Dive Rite Trek wing which is still the best one I have found. I find the wing protuding below the can a pain as the unit wont stand well and the wing gets damaged.

The bottom of the wing tucked forward on a table and if anything, probably added some stability to the unit when upright. Louis

Louis There are a couple of things you can do to prevent the Oxy wing (or other) from being squished. You can get one of the stands for Narked @ 90, or add a 7.25" plastic tank boot to the bottom with a block in the middle. While, the plastic boot is tippier, it still works to give you some height, doesn't affect buoyancy and best - no wing crunching. |
