| Custom Title Allowed! Current Rebreather/s: | Selenoid down Hi List, Last evening i've been diving my meg after a unfortunate break of almost 3 weeks. During the testing my selenoid didn't fire. Treid to start the unit up again, and again, nothing worked so i had to fly the unit manualy. Back home i've changed the batteries of the master cuase they were running low. Thought that might be the problem, but no, it didn't work either. Can anyone out there tell me what the problem could be and how to repair. Or should i sent the head back tot the factory, wich means several weeks no (Meg) diving, and that's what i'd really like to avoid. The unit is from march this year, so not even 6 months old. Already thnx for possible reactions Flup

| Re: Selenoid down Hi Flup, There is a good chance that the actuator in the solenoid is stuck due to foreign object (sand) or rusted (especially if you took out-in the oxygen hose on the solenoid underwater). Your best bet is to take the solenoid apart. Mine was extremly rusted when I bought the unit second hand. I just got a replacement kit for the actuator from ISC, delivered in 3 days for about $100 with shipping. But you probably won't have to go to that extend. Have you ever taken the solenoid apart? If not I can write down a little procedure! Cheers,

| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Selenoid down Hi Flup I had the some problem after i finished my course. I sent the unit to the States and in 2 weeks was back in Portugal. They found water in my soleneid, so the failure was due to corrosion. I' haven'tt the slighest ideia how did this happened. Maybe you should call Leon or Steve. If you are going to send it to the States don't forget to state clearely to the customs that it's repair within warranty. cheers Pedro |

So i would apriciate you sending me a little guidance in doing so. Although i have to say i don't hear the familiar 'clicking' during testing, so i am/was afraid that the problem could be electrical, but correct me is i'm wrong. Many thnx ahaed. Flup

| Re: Selenoid down put an amp clamp on one wire going to the solinoid and see if the controller is firing it.you will see high draw if the piston is stuck.as it acts as part of the iron core to satureate the field the coil produces. |
