Ron,

Do you need training if you are kiss certified?

Yes. The meg is very different than the kiss in many aspects. Leon is working on the standards. I'm sure there will be a crossover course like there is with all the other CCRs.

Re: The COPIS (Ko-pes) Megalodon

Great write up, thanks.
The quoted price of 6100$US is that for the complete version, no.1, incl tanks BP etc, or for the 2 or 3 version?

Denz.

Does this mean that KISS instructors (such as yourself) will also need a cross-over course to teach it as well ?

I am not in the loop (haha no pun intended) as to how Leon will cross over instructors. But i would guess you would have to be a meg instructor with a "COPIS" endorsment to teach the COPIS.

Could one become a COPIS instructor first, then get the MEG eCCR endorsement later ?

Joking aside, this presents an interesting issue... Take Europe for example, there are a couple (?) of Meg instructors whom I don't think have any experience with mCCR.

Yes, run manual control over the set-point all year long still doesn't qualify one as an experienced KISS-type instructor IMHO...

Now, for example, if a KISS instructor wants to dive a COPIS, s/he would have to take a x-over course from someone who has no, or little, experience with mCCR operation ?

Re: The COPIS (Ko-pes) Megalodon

Hmmmm training could be a real showstopper here.

If flying the unit manual is part of the curent meg training whats the reason for a separate training? (apart from not being proficient yet as one hardly ever does it)

And the other way around if I have to cough up the money for a recreational meg training (so no advance methods to stay on the loop longer) and later do the full program because well the recreational program was only a minor precursor.... then much of the advantage of the COPIS being a growth path for the real stuff just evaporates....

Iow treat Rebreather divers seriously and don't make them do the full program at full price or it aint worth the intermediate step.
