| Meg - G-Snap config I'm planning on using G-snaps to hold my cylinders. I plan to mount only females to the can so I can convert to Dive Rite Cam Bands instead of the normal STA config if I find the STA to be too thick. Can anybody see an advantage to using one male and one female G-snap on the canister so that "pairs" work out evenly? |

The release tab will be at the bottom. That way I still slide the cylinder down onto the canister. This way I have a male and a female on the canister, and I buy a new male/female pair for new each pair of cylinders. They're cheaper in pairs. but if you put one female on one side and one male on the other side this means that you drop the male into the female OK but to get the male into the female on the other side you would need to put the unit on its side to slide it up and lock it into position i would imagine that the two females are better attched to the unit and the males attached to the cylinders for ease of use and more stronger alby scubakitmarket ![]() The biggest advantage I see to only females on the caniser is that only the females have "slots" for cam bands. If I go with one male and one female on the canister (less expensive route) I'll be restricted to using an STA which pushes the rig back an inch or so. |

| Re: Meg - G-Snap config I still don't know why you would do this. It won't save you any parts as you will still need two sets of g-snaps - 1 male and female for the Dil, 1 male and female for the O2. I purchased 2 extra male sides so that I can easily use rental/borrowed cylinders. It may have cost a little more (around $75 us) but it's worth it. My meg is set up similar to Paul's but I use rubber bands under the SS clamps rather than a tank net. |
