| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Megalodon electronics Hi all, I am new to this forum so first, hello. I am one of 3 soon to be CCR divers in the Interuniversity Institue of Eilat, ISRAEL. we will use CCR's for Scientific research. we are seriously considering getting the Meg but have a few questions for experienced users. 1. have you ever had problems with the meg elctronics during a dive? 2. would you think its better to use the hammerhead on the meg? 3. any problems with using the VR3 with the meg (CCR continous 02 mode of course). thank you |

Never. Very solid set of electronics 2. Not on your life. Not a reliable set of electronics in my experience 3. More of a VR3 question, but I have not had a problem with the VR3 since the buttons were improved

The only good way to do that so far is when you have the shearwater./Jonny

Even on a longish 75m 3 hour dive the difference between a plumbed in and a stand alone VR3 is only a couple of minutes. It just ins't worth the hassle to me./Jonny

| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Megalodon electronics ok guys 3 questions then 1. what is the shearwater 2. if the vr3 is not in the loop and works as with OC how do you keep it going with your changing po2? 3. Steve, in your opinion all deco software hot wired to the loop are redundant?

The Shearwater is an electronics package that can replace the standard ISC APECS electronics. Lots of guys love them. I have not used them.1. what is the shearwater 2. if the vr3 is not in the loop and works as with OC how do you keep it going with your changing po2? 3. Steve, in your opinion all deco software hot wired to the loop are redundant? 2. I'm not sure if I'm following you correctly but The VR3 can be set to a fixed pO2 (you can change this whilst diving) so that it in effect operates just like if it is in a plumbed in mode. You need a pin number to activate this. 3. Not at all. Live deco info can be handy but I don't think it is necessarily as wonderful as the brochures would have us believe. All of the models on the market have had a few issues. Some more than others. I'm still in the camp of choosing the tables I want to follow and not having all my eggs in one basket.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Megalodon electronics I agree with everything said by Steve here. Meg leccies on Apecs 2 are very very good, I had a problem with the Shearwater but that has been remedied. Would not tuch the HH with a very very long pole, no disrespect to KJ, just think it is a waste of time IMHO and before anyone starts, it's my opinion and I'll use it as I want. No point in plugging in a VR3 as Steve rightly said difference between plugged and unplugged is minute. But with plugged you have something else to calibrate etc etc. The Meg is a great CCR you will not be disappointed. Cheers, Dave Cooper.
