| Travel case for Meg I need to buy a travel case for my Meg. I recall that people have said the largest carry-on legal Pelican and Storm cases will carry it all minus the cylinders....but I went and looked at Storm cases(the M2500) it didn't look like it would all fit. Anybody have any real experience using these cases(either the Storm or equivalent size Pelican)?? I like the idea that somebody suggested using a Travelpro suitcase...but if it comes down to having to check the bag, the Travelpro will not protect the unit anywhere near as much as the Pelican or Storm. Any recommendations? Mike |

Besides it's built like a tank, how much protecting does it need?I like the idea that somebody suggested using a Travelpro suitcase...but if it comes down to having to check the bag, the Travelpro will not protect the unit anywhere near as much as the Pelican or Storm. Besides it's built like a tank, how much protecting does it need? On some flights there is just not enough baggage space for all the crap people bring with them....and if you happen to be near the last group getting on the airplane, you may not have a choice but to check the bag. Been there, done that, have busted up gear to prove it.![]() Plus, there is always the flights on regional jets or small turboprops where they take your luggage from you at the plane, then give it back after the flight. You never know what happens there....but having been a pilot for 13 years I've seen enough to know better than to check anything(whether at the ticket counter or planeside) that could be easily damaged. The only thing needing any protection is the head and handsets. If they get beat around too much, things can quit working. They are electronic, after all. Mike |

The meg is designed to survive a 4 foot drop, you may want to pack the handsets into a neoprene sock or such, they would be the most delicate part. the travelpro has wheels too, the pelican and storm cases of that size do not. However, the meg, CL's, Regs, head, and loop fit in those cases just fine.

Actually, the Storm iM2500 case(the largest carry-on legal size they have) has wheels and an extending handle...but seems a bit small. the travelpro has wheels too, the pelican and storm cases of that size do not. However, the meg, CL's, Regs, head, and loop fit in those cases just fine. I have had Travelpro in the past, and they are great suitcases. I do, however, personally prefer the suitcases by Luggageworks(formerly Purdy Neat Stuff). http://www.luggageworksonline.com/ Specifically the 102NG or 103NG models. I have a model 104NG(they consider it an "international size" bag) that is approximately 9 years old, and still rock solid. I guess I'll look into a Luggageworks or Travelpro bag if the Storm doesn't fit everything(except cylinders) very well. I think I could get everything INCLUDING cylinders in a LW or TP bag....but not so in the Storm. I guess compromise is just a fact of life... ![]() Mike |

(You too Ron):Carl and Leon both had the Storm cases. Carls was a amaller size. I did like the deeper model. I need to order a new Stormcase this week. My big 'ol fat Pelican case weighs darn near 25lbs by itself! What a beast. Dave: Didn't you get the case that your Meg came in? OK Gents: Diving on the Black Dragon tomorrow (4th). Yesterday was diving Lake Crescent to the Warren car. A fine holiday weekend of diving. Be good! FIGJAM'ers Unite!
