| Re: What Changes Would You Make to A Meg? You're going to love your new manifold when you get it fitted up and get rid of all those Y pieces!!! I encourage you to post a pic of your rig with your manifold system for the benefit of those interested in this thread. I agree its a good alternative to what I have shown. I suggest 1 alteration..to include 1 Y-block and shut-off at your inflator so you can maintain wing inflation should you need to isolate your offboard, and reduce the amount of hose.![]() Lance I'm considering replacing the 2 Y's near the dil reg with a Golem 3-port Y block, but will wait until the drysuit gets chosen and procured. ![]() |

Hey Gilles,I'm considering replacing the 2 Y's near the dil reg with a Golem 3-port Y block, but will wait until the drysuit gets chosen and procured. ![]() Here is the Guide and a few pics of different configurations I tried before I settled on what I am now using.......That is when the new Bov arrives. http://www.rebreatherworld.com/attac...t-up-guide.pdf Drager FFM and Golem BOV..... The best of both worlds!! Lance

| Re: What Changes Would You Make to A Meg? Maybe this should be posted with one of the manifold threads, but Gilles asked for some photos. So the changes I have made are the following: 1. Added Golem BOV 2. Cut off all the velcro and d-rings I am not using. 3. Added manifold. 4. Added boot to the bottom of the can to raise it up a couple of inches. This works on the boat and in the back of my truck. There is 1 piece of 2x4 in the boot to add stability. 5. Removed two of the clips for the lid because of clearance issues. 6. Put G-Snaps on instead of the Tiger Mounts. 7. Covered my handset cables with pretty blue hose wrap. I think it looks pretty and adds a layer of protection. 8. Added the AP HUD cable clips. 9. Added but plate for side mounting BO. I use a piece of bungie cord and a clip to secure the valve end. Now for the photos. All of my manual gases come over my left shoulder in the CL. The O2, Dil SPG and Dil Offboard all run in the pocket of my CL. In my right CL I run the O2 SPG. When I am diving, I tuck the SPGs behind the strap that holds the respective CLs down. I connect my off board prior to diving. Charge and turn off. As you can see the O2 exits the bottom of the lung and goes back up to the valve. I switched my BOV to route the supply from the right. I wanted one less hose on the left, I had it there before, and it makes for a nice junction behind my head. I intend to add the ability to plumb in off board 02. I haven't yet. I run my BOV from the manifold. So I can just turn on the off board. Or I can bail to it completed independently. One note is now that I have switched from sling to side mount, the unit has become more butt heavy and the trim is off. I need to get in the water and play with it to get it more lid heavy again. Kind of a bummer, but well worth the streamlining. I am always open to suggestions. All of my mods were suggested by someone else. I can think of two people that have contributed the most. I have had no original ideas. Just a monkey with a wrench. Ah and the photo credits... that is my beautiful wife in the background supporting the unit. It lives in our common area most of the time.

| Re: What Changes Would You Make to A Meg? So far I have: 1. Inverted tanks – to improve horizontal trip 2. Added BOV (Golem) (feeding it via a Y connector from onboard ) with custom length hoses 3. Removed bottom plastic clips from lungs ans ISC scrotch strap (I clip them to bottom of backplane with metal clip). Upper clip is not used at all, Velcro that hold lung to webbing is sufficient. 4. Sewn lungs to make them smaller as they were too big for me (ISC was kind enough to do that for me with a very fast turn around) 5.Moved manual O2 addition to exhalation lung 6. Removed original strap from Primary handset and put bungee cord instead Things that I will do (or I am considering): -Replace onboard 3lt tanks with 7lt tanks for deeper dives -Add side mounting plate to side-mount tanks -Add ability to plug external tanks (and maybe O2) to BOV [under consideration] -also considering Radial scrubber for deeper dives |

| Re: What Changes Would You Make to A Meg? I've posted these before but here they are for anyone who cares. No cool mods though, just minor "improvements". 1. Custom velcro closure for CLs to reduce volume and better route SPG hoses. Removed all stock velcro. 2. Custom weight pocket - holds 4 x 5lbs bricks - to place the weight forward and keep it off the weight belt. 3. Homemade sidemount system, sorry no photo. 4. Ron Micjan's VR3/Apecs bracket. 5. Removed top plastic CL clips and replaced with threaded SS links. 6. Would like to add a BOV later. Hope this helps. Tibby

| Re: What Changes Would You Make to A Meg? One last alteration that I made and I forgot to mention was the Apecs checklist. See attached. I am the most form-ophobic person on earth, but I find physically filling this one in at the beginning of every dive day provides me with greater confidence. You may notice that it results in a more streamlined assembly, and has some suggested buddy check items. Feedback invited. |

It all seems their other than a mention for pre-breathing the scrubber. I always find a note on my check list to remind me to adjust my dive computer setting as I often forget till last minute and all us VR3 users no that can be a royal pane to do last min.
