6. Curved Slate Primary Controller Mount with dual bungee

My Reasoning: I mounted the controller to a second layer on the DR arm slate with zip ties. That layer flips open to reveal the lower slate which has info like PO2 flush values for my DIL. It stays down with a small square of industrial velcro. The strap that came with the Meg allowed the controller to slide around my arm and I've created some more value with this mounting.

Re: What Changes Would You Make to A Meg?

For my part, I would like to have some way of turning the rig on and off without popping off the lid, and some disconnects at the DSV so that I can visually examine the mushroom valves more easily. I would also like the option of buying the rig with a Cis style radial scrubber, but that's on the way.

Fewer velcro straps on the counterlungs would be nice too. Other than that, I really dig the Meg!

I made the mount out of electrical PVC and then heated it up to flatten out the curve a little which fits my arm better. I drilled the holes for the bungee cord, strap and the zip ties to mount the handset to the PVC. Because I mounted my VR3 to the handset I wear the hand set further down my arm to see it more easily so I added a wide elastic strap to hold it around my hand instead of my arm.

Thanks for pics. Had a similar idea but would like to remove the wires at the bottom of handset, then get longer screws (but imperial screws of that length and in stainless is almost impossible to find over here) and then screw the PVC directly onto the handset using the current screw holes on the bottom. PVC then to be fitted with Bungie.

What intrigued me about Mempilot's posting was the flip up idea. This will allow me getting rid of slate curently being worn on my right hand-side

Cheers

Re: What Changes Would You Make to A Meg?

Ya Mem's idea is pretty cool and works great.

I have no idea what it would cost to mail a set of screws your way but we can get them here at nearly any hardware store and then send them to you.

I liked this idea so much I have copied it to my unit. I did it a little differently but basically the same.

I used an old trifold slate which just about everyone has one lying around somewhere.

I pulled all the terrible fluro yellow bungee off and replace it with nice strong black stuff.

I removed the 4 screws on the bottom of the handset which secures the strap guides and aligned the holes with the top slate and drilled 4 holes in it. Seeing as the slate is curved I made 4 stand offs from some 5/16" polly air line tube so the slate now sits neatly on the back of the handset.

Countersink the holes and fix it together with 4 S/S countersunk screws.

Ditch the dodgey fluro yellow strap and open the slots for the strap and fit a VR3 strap and there you have it!!

Looks super cool and like Mem said you can put your dil figures and whatever else you want to have handy on it and it's right there whenever you want it in a flash.

Super cool mod.....Thanks Eric you get some green from me.

Lance

Re: What Changes Would You Make to A Meg?

Here are the pics I promised of the DR Arm Slate turned primary controller mount. The two small pieces of industrial velcro keep the slate closed when the current is running strong.

I am also including some pics of how I attach the top and bottom of the CLs to the harness. The bungee at the top stretches as seen in the pic to keep the CLs snug to the body. The bottom double-enders go between the D-rings on the bottom of the CLs and a D-ring I added to the crotch-strap where the waist belt slides through.

Sorry for the quality on the pics. Just waking up.

Very nice and neat. Could you give me the exact measurements on those screws. I.e length, width and that darn imperial thread.

Thanks a mil
