Meg diving into the Miocene.

The movie The Cave (http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/thecave/index.html) Meg team has done it again! This time we are diving deep.

The team composed of 6 Megalodon divers and 1 Cis Lunar diver has been exploring and documenting what appears to be the deepest pit in continental US. The Emerald Springs sink in Florida diving logistics make CCR the only viable, safe and practical method of exploration of this treacherous location.

The project is based on survey, geological, hydrological, biological and paleontological exploration and documentation. The pit provides an amazing window: from recent back to Miocene (20+ millions of years old). Currently we are at 382 feet and there is more to come!

You can see some photos in the Meg Photo Gallery and we will publish more news as we go.

Team members: Curt Bowen, Jill Heinerth, Jitka Hyniova, Brian Kakuk, Mark Meadows, Jakub Rehacek (all Meg divers) and Paul Heinerth (on Cis Lunar).

Cheers, Jitka

Thanks for the heads up!

Sounds fantastic both from a diving accomplishment and a historical look back in time point of view.

We would love to see some reports and articles, if you want to write them up in word I am happy to publish them in the Articles section for you...also publicise them via our newletter.

And the first picture is *drumroll* the Cis-Lunar.
Why not add Exploration categories to forums and galleries for article and pictures of explorations involving rebreathers. Would be unit neutral and inviting anyone exploring new caves or wrecks.

Dear Stuart,

Thanks for creating the folder - I tried to do that to make sense of having a Cis in Meg Gallery.... But I didn't know how.
Now it makes more sense since these are all pics from our joint project.
Paul Heinerth is one of the most accomplished Cis divers around, no wonder he sticks with his machine.

I'd like to buy him a beer just for keeping and diving his rig.
